Também queres, como nós um final de ano sem estrondos? Na semana passada nós pleiteamos na Câmara Baixa uma proibição total de fogos de artifício para consumidores, o mais tardar em 2020. Devemos terminar o fluxo de vítimas que em maioria ainda são muito jovens, o grande incómodo, o prejuízo de milhões e a violência contra os assistentes durante o final de ano. Nós incitamos o debate sobre os fogos de artifício na Câmara Baixa e podemos contar com o apoio da maioria dos holandeses, prefeitos, médicos, polícia e corpos de Bombeiros.

Felizmente uma maioria dos holandeses está se virando contra a perigosa tradição de fogos de artifício em nosso país por causa dos inúmeros feridos e do grande incómodo. Sob crescente pressão social finalmente o governo resolveu no ano passado limitar as horas nas quais se podem acender os fogos. Isto é um passo na boa direcção mas não resolve o problema. A única solução é uma proibição total para pessoas privadas acenderem fogos de artifício. Isto pode ser substituído por um espetáculo de fogos de artifício organizado por profissionais.

No prazo até a proibição total devemos já tomar medidas concretas para limitar o número de vítimas, o incómodo e o prejuízo. Muitos municípios querem ter o direito de instituir uma proibição para fogos de artifício mas isto agora não é possível. Nós queremos que municípios venham a ter esta liberdade. Também o período no qual é permitido acender os fogos deve ser drasticamente limitado: só entre 23:00 e 01:00 horas no dia 31 de dezembro (agora é permitido entre 18:00 e 02:00 horas).

Durante uma recente audição na Câmara Baixa, os nossos argumentos ainda foram adicionalmente enfatizados por médicos, prefeitos e corpos de Bombeiros. Eles também querem ainda mais medidas para no final obter uma proibição total de fogos de artifício para consumidores!

Nosso grupo parlamentar Europeu iniciou uma campanha para salvar a nossa natureza. Todo mundo pode participar! E isto é extremamente necessário pois Bruxelas está aborrecida com as ‘importunas’ leis que protegem a natureza. Por isso a Comissão Europeia pôs um inquérito on-line perguntando se as leis de protecção da natureza da UE ainda têm utilidade.

O inquérito destina-se principalmente a grandes empresas, mas também tu podes deixar ouvir a tua voz e esclarecer que é muito importante que reservas naturais e animais na Holanda – assim como no resto da Europa – sejam (continuem a ser) protegidos.

No nosso website podes preencher teu nome (name), cidade (city) e endereço electrónico (mail address) e nós preencheremos o inquérito para ti. Tu mesmo também podes preencher o inquérito em inglês no https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/EUNatureDirectives. Mas atenção, apesar da legislação europeia não ser perfeita, em nossas respostas no inquérito somos muito positivos sobre a Directiva Europeia para Aves e Habitat e isto para evitar que ainda mais leis que protegem a natureza sejam canceladas.

Afinal, de que se trata? Leis europeias e nacionais estabelecem que reservas naturais valiosas devem ser protegidas. Desse modo por exemplo não se pode, a esmo, construir uma fábrica, rodovia ou mega-estábulo no parque nacional Veluwe ou num parque de dunas. E isto deve permanecer assim!

Mas em Bruxelas eles estão enfastiados dessa protecção da natureza porque eles acham que a economia deve crescer de qualquer maneira e nenhuma árvore ou animal pode formar um obstáculo no caminho. Por isso a Comissão Europeia iniciou uma pesquisa para lançar dúvidas sobre a utilidade das leis europeias de protecção da natureza . Sexta-feira passada foi o Dia Mundial do Meio-Ambiente. Um belo dia para proclamar esta mensagem e para chamar mais uma vez a atenção para nosso filme One Single Planet.

Do you also wish to have a bang-free New Year’s Eve? Last week in the Lower House, we called for a complete ban on consumer fireworks by 2020 at the latest. The flow of hundreds of mostly very young victims must end, as must the severe inconvenience, the damage running into millions and the violence against aid workers during New Year’s Eve. We are the driving force of the fireworks debate in the Lower House and we receive support from a majority of the Dutch population, mayors, doctors, police and fire brigade.

Fortunately, a majority of the Dutch population now oppose the dangerous firework tradition in our country due to the many casualties and severe inconvenience. Under growing public pressure, the Cabinet finally decided last year to restrict the period in which fireworks can be set off. That is a step in the right direction, but not a solution to the problem. The only solution is a total ban on having fireworks set off by individuals. This could be replaced by a fireworks show organised by professionals.

In the run-up to this total ban, we must now take specific interim action to minimise casualties, inconvenience and damage. Many municipalities want to be able to impose a fireworks ban themselves, but that is currently impossible. We want municipalities to get this freedom indeed. The period in which fireworks may be set off must also be restricted drastically: only between 11pm and 1am on 31 December (it is now permitted between 6pm and 2am).

During a recent hearing in the Lower House, our arguments were further emphasised by doctors, mayors and the fire brigade. They too want more drastic measures, with a total ban on consumer fireworks as the ultimate goal!

Our European faction has started a campaign to save our nature. Everyone can join! And that is desperately needed, too, because Brussels is fed up with ‘difficult’ acts to protect nature. The European Commission has therefore put a survey online with the question whether the EU’s existing acts to protect nature are still useful.

The survey is primarily intended for major companies, but you can also make your voice heard and make it clear that it is important to (continue to) protect nature areas and animals in the Netherlands – and in the rest of Europe!

But please pay attention, even though European nature legislation is not perfect, we are nonetheless very positive in our survey answers with regard to the European Birds and Habitats Directive in order to prevent a further deterioration of nature legislation.

So what is this about exactly? European and national acts regulate that valuable nature areas must be protected. This means, for example, that you cannot just build a factory, motorway or factory farm on the Veluwe countryside or in a dune park. And it has to stay that way!

But Brussels is fed up with the protection of nature because it believes the economy must and will grow and no tree or animal may stand in the way of that growth. The European Commission has therefore launched a research to cast doubt on the use of European nature legislation. Help us to prevent this and join the No censorship on nature! campaign now.
