Hollanda’da bir ilk! Geçtiğimiz cuma günü menüde sadece vejeterjan ve vegan ürünlerin yer aldığı Hollanda’nın ilk snackbarı açıldı! Vejeteryan Snackbar da yemekler, hafif yiyecekler ve ekmek arası yiyecekler, sıcak biyolojik içecekler eşliğinde ikram ediliyor. Bunun yanısıra snackbarın sahibi, Jürgen Verwoerd elinden geldiğince yeşil/ çevreci bir restoran işletmeyi hedefliyor. Yeşil enerji, çevre dostu paketler ve ekolojik temizlik ürünleri kullanarak bunu gerçekleştirmek istiyor.
Vejeteryan snackbar daha doğru gıda temini geçişine katkıda bulunuyor. Bu snackbar sayesinde insanlar hayvanlar, insanlar, doğa ve çevreye yüklenmeden ‘broodje bal’ (ekmek arası köfte) yiyebilirler. Biz, bitkisel ve bu sebeple hayvan dostu toplum için anlamlı adım atan her girişimciyle çok mutluyuz.
Bu hafta Meat the Truth’un Fransizca kitap tanıtımı için Paris’teydim : La Verite sur la Viande. Çok güzel ve yoğun katılımın olduğu bir organizeydi!
Geçen hafta köpeklerin kulak ve/ veya kuyruklarının kesilmesi yasağının ihlalı ile ilgili sinyallar hakkında soru önergesi verdik. Bir Hollanda televizyon programında, yasak olmasına rağmen insanların köpeklerinin kulak ve/veya kuyruklarını kestirdikleri ortaya çıktı. Ayrıca şovlarda genelde kulak ve/veya kuyrukları kesilmiş köpeklerin yer aldığı ve bu alanda hiç bir denetleme yapılmadığı belirlendi.
Köpeklerin kulak ve/ veya kuyruklarının kesilmesi, 2001 yılındakı yasa ile yasaklandı. Buna rağmen birçok köpeğin hala kulak ve/veya kuyrukları kesiliyor. Uluslararası yasadışı ticarette kulak ve/veya kuyrukları kesilmiş köpeklerin hala pazarlanması, bize göre kabul edilemez bir durum.
Peter Singer, Hayvanları Koruma Partisi’nın 10 yıllık geçmişini anlatan, Haas in Marathon (maratonda bir tavşan) adlı belgeseline insanların ilgisini çekmek için bize yardımcı olacak. Mükemmel! Dünyaca ünlü, Avusturyalı, Peter Singer Princeton Universitesinde biyo-etik profesörü olarak çalışmakta ve bir filozof ve hayvanhakları alanında hayvanlara etik muamelenin kurucusu. Kendisi bizim için büyük bir ilham kaynağıdır!

Avrupa Birliği toplu arı ölümlerine son vermek için tehlikeli zirai ilaçları yasaklamayı kabul etmiyor. Bu sebeple Hollanda’nın kendisinin zehirli neonicotinoïden ve fipronil’i yasaklaması gerekiyor. Biz bu ürünlerin biran önce pazardan toplatılmasını istiyoruz. Çünkü bu zirai zehir, arı ve diğer böcekler için büyük bir tehlike unsuru oluşturuyor.

A first in the Netherlands! Last Friday, I opened the first snack bar in the Netherlands which has only vegetarian and vegan items on the menu. At the Vegetarian Snack Bar they serve meals, snacks and filled sandwiches, supplemented by organic hot and cold drinks. The owner Jürgen Verwoerd aims at running a fastfood restaurant that is as green as possible. With green power, environmental friendly packaging and ecological cleaning agents.
The Vegetarian Snack Bar helps in the shift towards an honest food supply. Thanks to this snack bar you can eat a ‘meatball sandwich’ without putting pressure on animals, people, nature or the environment. We are delighted with every entrepreneur who takes meaningful steps towards a vegetarian, and therefore, animal friendly society.
This week I was in Paris for the book presentation of the French language version of Meat the Truth: La Verite sur la Viande. It was a great event with many visitors!
Last week, we raised Parliamentary questions about the violation of the prohibition of docking and cropping, which is frequently seen. In a Dutch television programme it came to light that people still have their dogs’ ears and tail cropped and docked, despite the prohibition. Seemingly the dogs exhibited at shows are mostly cropped and docked and no inspections are carried out.
The cropping and docking of dogs is banned by law in the Netherlands since 2001. But apparently many dogs are still being cropped and docked. We think it is unacceptable that these dogs are still traded illegally on an international basis.
Peter Singer helps us to draw attention to our documentary the Hare in the Marathon, a film covering the 10th anniversary of the Party for the Animals. Excellent! The world-famous Australian Peter Singer is professor of Bioethics at Princeton University, philosopher and one of the founders of the ethical assessment of animal rights. He is a great source of inspiration to us!

The bees are now dependent on your help, and you depend on the help of the bees. Read this alarming article for more information. The European Union refuses to prohibit hazardous pesticides to prevent the death of bees. The Netherlands should therefore just prohibit the poisonous neonicotinoids and fipronil itself! We want these pesticides to be taken from the market as soon as possible because these agricultural pesticides seriously threaten the lives of bees and other insects.
