Une primeur aux Pays-Bas! Vendredi dernier j’ai ouvert le premier cafétéria aux Pays-Bas où il n’y a que des produits végétariens et végétalien au menu ! Au Cafétéria Végétarien on sert des repas, des snacks et des sandwichs avec des boissons chaudes et froides biologiques. A part de cela le propriétaire Jürgen Verwoerd vise à exploiter un fast-food aussi propre que possible. Avec de l’énergie propre, des emballages non polluants et des détergents écologiques.
Le Cafétéria Végétarien contribue à un changement d’approvisionnement alimentaire plus honnête. Grâce à ce cafétéria les gens ont la possibilité de manger un ‘broodje bal’ (normalement un sandwich avec une boulette de hachis) sans faire pression sur les animaux, les gens, la nature et l’environnement. Nous sommes très contents de chaque entrepreneur qui met des pas importants en avant pour réaliser une société plus végétale et donc plus favorable aux animaux.
Cette semaine j’ai été à Paris pour la présentation du livre Meat the Truth en français: La Vérite sur la Viande. C’était un bel événement très suivi!
La semaine dernière nous avons posé des questions à l’Assemblée nationale néerlandaise concernant les infractions commises à la défense de coupures qui sont signalées. Dans une émission néerlandaise il s’est révélé que les gens font couper les oreilles et / ou les queues de leurs chiens, malgré le fait que c’est interdit. Il s’est révélé également qu’il y a surtout des chiens coupés aux shows et qu’il n’y a pas de contrôles pendant ces spectacles.
Faire des coupures aux chiens est interdit par la loi aux Pays-Bas depuis 2001. Il se révèle pourtant que beaucoup de chiens sont encore coupés. Nous sommes d’avis que c’est inacceptable qu’il existe encore un commerce illégal international de chiens coupés.
Peter Singer nous aide à attirer l’attention sur notre documentaire le Lièvre dans le Marathon, un film qui s’agit des dix ans du Parti pour les Animaux. Formidable! Ce Peter Singer australien qui est connu dans le monde entier est professeur de faculté bio-éthique à l’Université de Princeton, philosophe et un des fondateurs du cadre de considération éthique concernant les droits des animaux. Il est pour nous une grande source d’inspiration!
L’entreprise Nikon, connue par ses appareils-photos, ne prend (ou tire) pas seulement des photos avec les appareils malheureusement, mais tire aussi à balles. Signez la pétition au http://www.viva.org.uk/huntingban/nikon/?Lead=FB020 et envoyez un courriel à Nikon avec l’appel urgent d’arrêter la vente des armes.

Maintenant les abeilles sont dépendantes de votre aide et vous de la leur. Lisez cet article inquiétant pour plus d’informations. L’Union européenne refuse d’interdire les pesticides dangereux pour éviter la mort des abeilles. C’est la raison pour laquelle les Pays-Bas doivent interdire eux-mêmes les néonicotinoïdes et le fipronil toxiques ! Nous voulons que ces pesticides sont retirés du marché le plus vite possible parce que le pesticide agricole est un danger sérieux pour les abeilles et d’autres insectes.

A first in the Netherlands! Last Friday, I opened the first snack bar in the Netherlands which has only vegetarian and vegan items on the menu. At the Vegetarian Snack Bar they serve meals, snacks and filled sandwiches, supplemented by organic hot and cold drinks. The owner Jürgen Verwoerd aims at running a fastfood restaurant that is as green as possible. With green power, environmental friendly packaging and ecological cleaning agents.
The Vegetarian Snack Bar helps in the shift towards an honest food supply. Thanks to this snack bar you can eat a ‘meatball sandwich’ without putting pressure on animals, people, nature or the environment. We are delighted with every entrepreneur who takes meaningful steps towards a vegetarian, and therefore, animal friendly society.
This week I was in Paris for the book presentation of the French language version of Meat the Truth: La Verite sur la Viande. It was a great event with many visitors!
Last week, we raised Parliamentary questions about the violation of the prohibition of docking and cropping, which is frequently seen. In a Dutch television programme it came to light that people still have their dogs’ ears and tail cropped and docked, despite the prohibition. Seemingly the dogs exhibited at shows are mostly cropped and docked and no inspections are carried out.
The cropping and docking of dogs is banned by law in the Netherlands since 2001. But apparently many dogs are still being cropped and docked. We think it is unacceptable that these dogs are still traded illegally on an international basis.
Peter Singer helps us to draw attention to our documentary the Hare in the Marathon, a film covering the 10th anniversary of the Party for the Animals. Excellent! The world-famous Australian Peter Singer is professor of Bioethics at Princeton University, philosopher and one of the founders of the ethical assessment of animal rights. He is a great source of inspiration to us!

The bees are now dependent on your help, and you depend on the help of the bees. Read this alarming article for more information. The European Union refuses to prohibit hazardous pesticides to prevent the death of bees. The Netherlands should therefore just prohibit the poisonous neonicotinoids and fipronil itself! We want these pesticides to be taken from the market as soon as possible because these agricultural pesticides seriously threaten the lives of bees and other insects.
