L’événement de taureaux sanglant ‘Toro de la Vega’ supprimé
L’événement de taureaux espagnol Toro de la Vega, où un taureau est pourchassé par des centaines de personnes avec des lances et poignardé à mort, a été annulé cette année.
L’année dernière, les Partis pour les Animaux néerlandais et espagnol ont joué un rôle de premier plan lors d’une manifestation massive à Madrid contre les massacres annuels des taureaux. Quelque cent mille personnes ont participé à la manifestation.
Après ceci, la région espagnole de Castille-et-León a changé la loi et cette année-ci, elle n’a pas donné d’autorisation pour Toro de la Vega, qui a normalement lieu à la mi-septembre. La nouvelle loi de la communauté autonome espagnole interdit la mise à mort d’un taureau en présence d’un public. « Une victoire importante, mais la lutte n’est pas terminée », a déclaré l’eurodéputée Anja Hazekamp.
« L’action de pourchasser des taureaux sans lances n’a pas encore été interdite, tout comme toutes les autres corridas où les animaux sont torturés de façon cruelle. Nous continuerons la lutte jusqu’à ce que plus aucun taureau ne soit pourchassé ou tué. Cette pratique médiévale doit cesser! », selon Hazekamp.
Samedi passé, Hazekamp a voyagé à Madrid, où cette année également cent mille personnes s’étaient réunies pour une protestation massive contre les corridas.

The Spanish State of Castile and León subsequently changed its law and is not giving permission for the Toro de La Vega this year, which normally takes place mid-September. The new law of the Spanish State prohibits the killing of bulls in the presence of spectators. “An important victory but the fight isn’t over yet”, said MEP Anja Hazekamp.
“It’s still permitted to chase the bulls without lances, just like all other bull fights where animals are cruelly tortured continue to be permitted. We will keep fighting until no bulls are killed or chased. These medieval practices have to be stop!”, according to Hazekamp.
