Partidul pentru Animale neerlandez și cel spaniol au preluat conducerea anul trecut, în timpul unei demonstrații imense în Madrid împotriva sacrificării anuale a taurilor. Aproximativ o sută de mii de oameni au fost prezenți la protest.
Regiunile spaniole Castilla și León au schimbat apoi legea și nu au dat autorizație în acest an pentru organizarea Toro de la Vega, care are loc de obicei la mijlocul lunii septembrie. Noua lege a regiunilor spaniole interzice uciderea unui taur în prezența publicului. „O victorie importantă, dar lupta încă nu s-a terminat”, a declarat europarlamentarul Anja Hazekamp.
„Vânătoarea de tauri fără sulițe rămâne permisă în continuare, precum și alte coride la care animalele sunt torturate într-un mod crud. Continuăm să luptăm până când nici un taur nu mai este ucis sau vânat. Aceste practici medievale trebuie să înceteze!”, a spus Hazekamp.

The Dutch and Spanish Parties for the Animals led the way in the massive demonstration in Madrid against the annual bull killing last year. About one hundred thousand people attended the protest.
The Spanish State of Castile and León subsequently changed its law and is not giving permission for the Toro de La Vega this year, which normally takes place mid-September. The new law of the Spanish State prohibits the killing of bulls in the presence of spectators. “An important victory but the fight isn’t over yet”, said MEP Anja Hazekamp.
“It’s still permitted to chase the bulls without lances, just like all other bull fights where animals are cruelly tortured continue to be permitted. We will keep fighting until no bulls are killed or chased. These medieval practices have to be stop!”, according to Hazekamp.
