Erfolg im niederländischen Ort Daarle! Die Regierung hat den Ausverkauf von niederländischer Natur vorläufig beendet. Laut Staatssekretär Dijksma ist der Grund dafür, die Unruhe, die der Verkauf in der Gesellschaft ausgelöst hat. Wir spielten eine wichtige Rolle bei der Organisation des wachsenden Wiederstands („Groeiend Verzet“) gegen den Ausverkauf der Natur. In einer „woudfunding-campagne“ wurde innerhalb einer Periode von gut zwei Wochen eine Viertel Million Euro eingesammelt um die gefährdetste Natur frei zu kaufen. Mit Erfolg: Während der Auktion erwarben wir fast 100.000m2 Natur. Die durch unsere Partei in Daarle erworbene Natur wird in die Geschichte eingehen als Denkmal eines wachsenden Volkswiderstands!

Eine Regierung, die ganze Dachsfamilien und ihren natürlichen Lebensraum in einer Versteigerung an den Meistbietenden verkauft, obwohl der Verkauf von geschützten Tierarten in den Niederlanden sogar strafbar ist, fordert den Widerstand ihrer Bürger regelrecht heraus. Eine Regierung, die von allem den Preis, aber nicht den Wert kennt, muss die Besorgnis ihrer Bürger zu spüren bekommen. Das scheint zu funktionieren 🙂

Die erste Schlacht ist gewonnen, eine Regierungspolitik, die gegen die Natur agiert, wird sich nicht halten können!

In dieser Woche ist ein Meilenstein für den Tierschutz erreicht: Die Haltungsmöglichkeit von exotischen Tieren wir endlich eingeschränkt. Nach jahrelangen Andringen unserer Partei und Tierschutzorganisationen, präsentierte Staatssekretär Dijksma diese Woche die Positivliste für Säugetiere. Ab 2014 dürfen Einzelpersonen und Unternehmen nur noch Tiere halten, die auf dieser Liste stehen. Tiere die nicht auf der Liste stehen, wie Waschbären, Leoparden und (Weissschwanz-) Stachelschweine, dürfen weder gehalten, gezüchtet noch gehandelt werden. Was für ein Durchbruch!

Eine schöne Geschichte über urbane Landwirtschaft in Seattle! It’s not a Fairytale: Seattle to Build Nation’s First Food Forest. Und auch diese Geschichte von Ron Finley, einem sehr engagierten Guerrilla Gardner in LA, sollten Sie nicht verpassen. Wunderbar zu sehen, wie Bürgerinitiativen so grosse Auswirkungen auf Nachbarschaften und auf die Gesundheit von Mensch und Umwelt haben.

Heute beginnt das Yulin Dog Meat Festival. Dank internationaler Proteste könnte es das letzte Mal sein, das wäre schön! Sehen Sie dieses Video für Bildmaterial, aber Vorsicht: Schockierend.

Eine Stadt in Alaska hat schon seit 15 Jahren eine Katze als Bürgermeister =^.^= In einem Ort in Mexiko können sie jetzt auch einer Katze ihre Stimme geben. Es begann als Scherz mit dem Spruch „Tired of voting for rats? Vote for a cat“, aber Morris die Katze könnte wirklich Bürgermeister des Ortes Xalapa werden.

Ich habe in dieser Woche Parlamentsfragen zu der Erhängung von Eseln auf Bonaire gestellt. Ich möchte wissen wie es um den Verwaltungsplan steht, den das „Openbaar Lichaam Bonaire“ (die niederländische Abteilung Bonaire) entwickeln sollte. Diese Art von Praktiken müssen bekämpft werden! Sehen Sie hier ein schockierendes Bild der Esel.

Auch habe ich Parlamentsfragen über die unverhältnismässige Gewalt der türkischen Regierung gegen Demonstranten in Istanbul gestellt. Die Polizei in der Türkei entscheidet sich mit chemischer Kriegsführung gegen die Demonstranten vorzugehen, was wirklich inakzeptabel ist. Auch die Tiere haben enorm unter den Angriffstechniken der Polizei zu leiden. Mir ist aus Istanbul berichtet worden, dass alleine auf dem Taksimplatz 8 Hunde, 63 Katzen und 1028 Vögel durch die Gewalt der Regierung ums Leben kamen.

Victory in the Dutch village of Daarle! The cabinet has put a provisional stop to nature sales in the Netherlands. The reason for this, according to State Secretary Dijksma, is the social unrest created by the nature sales. We played a significant role in organising the Growing Resistance movement against nature sales. We used a crowd funding campaign to collect a quarter of a million Euros in just over two weeks time to protect our most vulnerable nature reserves. And we were successful too! We bought almost 100,000 square metres of nature during the auction. The nature reserves our party won will go down in history as a monument to growing civil resistance!

A government that sells complete badger families and their environments to the highest bidder, in a place where selling endangered animal species is against the law, requires Dutch citizens to resist. A government that knows what everything costs, but does not know its value needs to be subject to pressure from concerned citizens. And it seems to be working! 🙂 We’ve won the first battle – government policy that goes against our nature will not make it!

We’ve achieved a milestone for animal welfare this week: we’ve finally scrapped being allowed to keep exotic animals as pets. This week, after years of effort by both our party and animal protection organisations, State Secretary Dijksma presented the Positieflist (Positive List). As of 2014, private individuals and businesses may only keep animals that are on this list. Animals that are not on the list, such as racoons, Bengal cats and hedgehogs, are no longer allowed as pets, to be bred, or sold. What a breakthrough!

It’s great to see how private individuals’ initiatives can have such a great effect on neighbourhoods and on people’s health and the environment.

A small town in Alaska has had a cat as its mayor for 15 years now. =^.^= The populace of a town in Mexico can also vote for a cat. It started as a joke: ‘Tired of voting for rats? Vote for a cat’ but Morris the cat could actually become the mayor of Xalapa.

These week I asked parliamentary questions about donkeys being hanged in Bonaire. I want to know how the plan is going for feral donkeys that the Public Body of Bonaire was to develop. We must fight these kinds of practices! Click here for a shocking photo of the donkeys.

I also asked parliamentary questions about the disproportionate violence the Turkish government used against demonstrators in Istanbul. The police in Turkey chose to use chemical weapons against the demonstrators, which is entirely unacceptable. Animals also suffer enormously from the police’s attacks. People in Istanbul have told me that on Taksim Square alone, 8 dogs, 63 cats, and 1028 birds have been killed by government violence.
