Worldlog Semana 28 – 2009
Este é o último worldlog antes do intervalo de Verão. Na quarta-feira da próxima semana estarei no Rio de Janeiro onde vou falar no congresso de veganismo mundial e exibir o filme Meat the Truth. Se estiverem por lá, apareçam!

Na semana passada tive um encontro em Haia com representantes do novo Partido pelos Animais português, é óptimo conhecer gente tão boa e motivada em tantos países com os mesmos ideais!

O nosso departamento de pesquisa científica, a Nicolaas G. Pierson Foundation, está entretanto a preparar um novo filme sobre a morte dos mares e oceanos. As primeiras filmagens foram feitas a semana passada nos Açores sob a direcção de Karen Soeters.
Façamos juntos, ainda antes que comecem as férias do Verão, frente ao sofrimento animal. O Porto Rico está a planear abrir um centro de criação de primatas, aonde animais serão criados para uso em laboratórios de experimentação animal. Cliquem aqui para dizer que isto é inaceitável!
A Bolívia deu o bom exemplo proíbindo os circos com animais selvagens, mas ainda há imensos países (também e sobretudo na América Latina) que continuam abundantemente a ter atracções com animais selvagens nos circos. Podem protestar aqui.
Além disso, notícias positivas. Através do VitaGoat project, crianças em países pobres podem dispor de leite de soja produzido nas suas próprias aldeias.
O departamento holandês do projecto recebeu uma nominação no concurso de ideais de um jornal de grande tiragem, ajudem-nos e votem no projecto VitaGoat.

This is my final worldlog before the summer recess. I’ll be in Rio de Janeiro next Wednesday to speak at the world veganism congress where the film Meat the Truth will also be screened. If you happen to be in the neighbourhood, be sure to drop by!

Last week in The Hague I met with representative of the newly established Portuguese Party for the Animals. It’s always great to to meet such motivated people. They come from so many different countries but share the same ideals!

Our scientific bureau, the Nicolaas G. Pierson Foundation, is preparing a new film about the death of the seas and oceans. The first takes were shot last week on the Azores under the direction of Karen Soeters.
Before we break for the summer vacation, I’d like you to join me in taking a stand against cruelty to animals. Puerto Rico is planning to start a primate breeding centre to provide subjects for animal laboratories. Go here to express your opposition!
Bolivia has set a good example by banning circuses with wild animals. Unfortunately, there are still many countries (especially in South America) where circuses featuring wild animals are seen as legitimate forms of popular entertainment.
And some positive news. The VitaGoat project helps children in poor countries gain access to soymilk that is produced in their own villages.
The Dutch section of the project has been nominated in an “ideals” competition being run by a national Dutch newspaper. Lend them your support and vote for the VitaGoat project.
