Worldlog Week 28 – 2009
Laatste worldlog voor de zomerstop. Ik zal volgende week woensdag in Rio de Janeiro zijn om te spreken op het wereld veganisme congres en de film Meat the Truth te vertonen. Als je in de buurt bent, zorg dat je erbij bent!

Afgelopen week heb ik in Den Haag een ontmoeting gehad met vertegenwoordigers van de nieuw opgerichte Portugese partij voor de dieren, erg fijn om zulke goede en gedreven mensen te ontmoeten uit tal van landen met dezelfde idealen!

Inmiddels heeft ons wetenschappelijk bureau, de Nicolaas .G. Pierson Foundation een nieuwe film in voorbereiding over de sterfte van de zeeën en oceanen. De eerste opnamen zijn afgelopen week gemaakt op de Azoren onder leiding van Karen Soeters.
Laten we voor de zomervakantie begint samen nog een vuist maken tegen dierenleed. Puerto Rico is van plan een fokcentrum voor primaten te beginnen, waar dieren zullen worden gefokt voor dierproeflaboratoria. Klik hier om te laten horen dat dit onacceptabel is!
Bolivia geeft het goede voorbeeld om circussen met wilde dieren te verbieden, maar er zijn nog tal van landen (met name ook in Zuid-Amerika) die volop doorgaan met vermaak in circussen met wilde dieren. Je kunt hier protesteren.
Dan nog positief nieuws. Met het VitaGoat project kunnen kinderen in arme landen geholpen worden aan sojamelk die in het eigen dorp gemaakt wordt.
De Nederlandse afdeling van het project is genomineerd in de idealenwedstrijd van een landelijk dagblad, help ze een handje en stem op het VitaGoat project.
Ik wens jullie allemaal een goede zomer en ik hoop dat er veel plannen gesmeed gaan worden voor partijen voor de dieren overal ter wereld!

Last week in The Hague I met with representative of the newly established Portuguese Party for the Animals. It’s always great to to meet such motivated people. They come from so many different countries but share the same ideals!

Our scientific bureau, the Nicolaas G. Pierson Foundation, is preparing a new film about the death of the seas and oceans. The first takes were shot last week on the Azores under the direction of Karen Soeters.
Before we break for the summer vacation, I’d like you to join me in taking a stand against cruelty to animals. Puerto Rico is planning to start a primate breeding centre to provide subjects for animal laboratories. Go here to express your opposition!
Bolivia has set a good example by banning circuses with wild animals. Unfortunately, there are still many countries (especially in South America) where circuses featuring wild animals are seen as legitimate forms of popular entertainment.
And some positive news. The VitaGoat project helps children in poor countries gain access to soymilk that is produced in their own villages.
The Dutch section of the project has been nominated in an “ideals” competition being run by a national Dutch newspaper. Lend them your support and vote for the VitaGoat project.
