Con gli attacchi di Parigi ancora fresco nella nostra mente, siamo di nuovo sconvolto la settimana scorsa dal terrore. Questa volta nella capitale del nostro paese confinante; Bruxelles. Viviamo intensamente con le vittime e i sopravvissuti. Gli attacchi di Bruxelles colpiscono tutti noi. Si dimostra ancora una volta che è importante che, oltre al terrorismo, dobbiamo anche per superare la paura. Dovremo costruire attivamente una società in cui non vi è più solidarietà e appartenenza. Una società in cui impariamo a superare le nostre paure e ad apprezzare la nostra libertà. In modo che i giovani non deragliarono, ma trovano una prospettiva.
Ucraina
Secondo delle ricerche in Ucraina uno su venti bambini tra i 5 e 14 anni è coinvolto nel lavoro minorile, in particolare nel settore agricolo e minerario. Fino a poco tempo, il governo ha messo in guardia gli imprenditori olandesi che vogliono sviluppare le loro attività in o con l’Ucraina. Su un sito web del governo per gli imprenditori nei Paesi Bassi si poteva leggere: “soprattutto se svolge attività nel settore agricolo o nelle costruzioni, c’è una notevole probabilità che una società di produzione o subappaltatore fan uso di lavoro minorile.” Questo avviso è stato recentemente rimosso dal sito.
Estremamente strano, soprattutto perché siamo poco prima del referendum olandese del 6 aprile riguardante l’accordo di associazione (accordo commerciale) con l’Ucraina. Mi sembra molto improbabile che improvvisamente la situazione in Ucraina è migliorata. Il Ministero degli Affari Esteri degli Stati Uniti mette ancora in guardia contro il lavoro minorile in Ucraina, in particolare nel settore agricolo e minerario, ma anche contro l’uso dei bambini nell’industria del porno, come bambini-soldato e vendita ambulante. Perché il nostro governo non avvisa più? Naturalmente ho fatto delle interrogazioni parlamentari!
Anja Hazekamp, il nostro capogruppo al Parlamento europeo, è stato nominato come europarlamentare più rispettosa del benessere degli animali. Di per sé, è bello che il duro lavoro di Anja è notato e apprezzato, tuttavia, i premi annuali per gli europarlamentari sono in gran parte sponsorizzato dalla massiccia lobby dell’industria a Bruxelles. Anja ha fatto sapere che non accetterà il premio. Il Partito per gli Animali vuole sbarazzarsi dell’enorme influenza dei lobbisti a Bruxelles. Ottima scelta Anja!
The Guardian ha riferito questa settimana circa le ultime ricerche che dimostrano che mangiare meno carne ha un grande impatto nella lotta contro il cambiamento climatico.
Il nostro partito sorella britannica, l’Animal Welfare Party, ha chiesto Morrisey come candidato come sindaco di Londra! Ne sta pensando seriamente. Per saperne di più clicca qui.

With the Paris attacks still fresh in our minds, we were again shocked by a terror attack last week. This time it happened in the capital of our neighbouring country; Brussels. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. The attacks in Brussels affect us all. Yet again, it shows that it is important that we do not only have to overcome terrorism but also our fears. We must actively build a society of more solidarity and togetherness. A society where we learn to overcome our fears and to cherish our freedom. So that young people do not go off the rails but are given perspective.
Ukraine
According to research, one in twenty children in Ukraine between 5 and 14 years is involved in child labour, in particular in the agricultural and mining sectors. Until recently, the Government warned Dutch entrepreneurs who wished to conduct activities in Ukraine against child labour. On a specific government’s site for entrepreneurs in the Netherlands it said: “in particular if you wish to conduct activities in the agricultural or construction sectors, there is a substantial chance that a production company or building contractor will use child labour.” This warning was taken from their website only recently.
Very strange, especially because it is so close to the Dutch referendum on 6 April on the Association Agreement (Trade Agreement) with Ukraine. I think it is highly unlikely that the situation in Ukraine has changed all of a sudden. The US Ministry of Foreign Affairs is still warning against child labour in Ukraine, in particular in the agricultural and mining sectors, but also against the use of children in the porn industry, as child soldiers and street sellers. Why does our Government no longer mention this? Of course I asked parliamentary questions!
Anja Hazekamp, our Party Chairman in the European Parliament, was hailed as the most animal-friendly MEP. It is of course great that Anja’s hard work does not go unnoticed and is appreciated, but the annual awards for MEPs are largely sponsored by the gigantic industry lobby in Brussels. Anja has made it known that she will not accept the award. After all, the Party for Animals wants to stop the huge influence of lobbyists in Brussels. Good choice, Anja!
This week, The Guardian reported on the most recent research, which showed that eating less meat has a great effect in the fight against climate change.
Our British sister party, the Animal Welfare Party, approached Morrisey to stand for Mayor for London! He is seriously thinking about it. Read about it here.
