Vorrei cominciare con un’ottima notizia. La settimana scorsa abbiamo fatto un grande passo avanti nel parlamento. Sin dalla fondazione del nostro partito ci battiamo per gli animali nel settore zootecnico. Cosi anche per i vitelli nel settore lattiero-caseario che sono crudelmente separati dalle loro madri subito dopo la nascita e messi in un cosiddetto recinto individuale. In natura i vitelli rimangono da 6 fino a 12 mesi con la loro madre.
Vacche da latte devono fare nascere un vitello ogni anno. Ciò mantiene alta la loro produzione di latte. La maggior parte di questi vitelli è un “residuo”: i piccoli tori non daranno latte e non crescono abbastanza veloce per farne bistecche. Essi sono macellati per la carne di vitello dopo al massimo 8 mesi.
Il Partito per gli Animali ritiene che i vitelli abbiano il diritto di una madre con cui crescere, e anche la maggioranza del parlamento condivide questa opinione! Sono felice che la nostra mozione per lasciare i vitellini per un certo tempo con le loro madri sia stata adottata. Dobbiamo rispettare i processi naturali, come l’allevamento.
Il partito madre, vitellini possono stare semplicemente con la loro madre. Vota Partito per gli Animali!
La maggioranza della Camera ha approvato la decisione del governo che i Paesi Bassi andranno eseguire dei bombardamenti in Siria. Una decisione molto pericolosa. Noi abbiamo quindi votato contro. Organizzazione di Pace Pax, la Croce Rossa e Amnesty International hanno invitato alla prudenza, ma la maggior parte del parlamento ignora questi consigli. I bombardamenti non contribuisce ad aumentare la sicurezza nel mondo, non contribuisce ad aumentare la sicurezza in Siria e non contribuisce ad aumentare la sicurezza nei Paesi Bassi.
Al contrario, partecipazione ai bombardamenti conduce direttamente e indirettamente alla messa in pericolo. Così potrebbero risultare in rappresaglie terroristiche nei Paesi Bassi e causare un’ulteriore radicalizzazione. Chi vuole raggiungere la pace con la violenza, raggiunge l’inverso.
Lo scorso anno, 28.000 persone hanno firmato una petizione per le versioni vegan del popolare gelato Ben & Jerry’s. Ben&Jerry’s ha annunciato che i nuovi gusti vegan saranno in vendita dal mese di febbraio negli Stati Uniti. È bellissimo vedere che queste azioni hanno un effetto positivo.
Una ricerca da parte del dell’Ufficio di pianificazione sociale e culturale in Olanda mostra che gli olandesi fanno sempre più consapevolmente la spesa, ad esempio boicottando alcuni prodotti e che i Paesi Bassi hanno sempre più flexitariani. Per me i gusti di gelato vegani possono venire anche nei Paesi Bassi!
In Irlanda di recente due persone sono decedute per l’influenza suina. Guarda il capitolo ‘Zoönosen’ dal nostro documentario ‘One Single Planet’ per saperne di più sulla relazione tra l’industria del bestiame e rischi per la salute pubblica. Rendi il anche tuo ambiente consapevoli di questi pericoli: condividi allora questo cartone sui social media. Nel ‘The Meatrix Relaunched’ sono spiegato in modo molto breve, ma chiaramente, i problemi causati dall’industria del bestiame su larga scala.

I would like to start with some fantastic news. Last week we had a major breakthrough in the Lower House. Ever since the start of our party we have been fighting for animals in the livestock industry. As well as for calves in the dairy industry, which are cruelly separated from their mothers upon birth and are put into so-called individual pens. In nature, calves stay with their mothers for 6 to even 12 months.
Dairy cows have to give birth once a year to continue producing milk. The majority of those calves are a ‘by-product: little bulls do not give milk and do not grow fast enough to turn them into steak. After at most 8 months, they are slaughtered to produce veal meat.
The Party for the Animals believes that calves have the right to grow up with their mothers, and a majority of the Lower House now agrees! I am delighted that our motion to keep calves with their mothers for a certain time has been accepted. We must respect natural processes such as the rearing of young animals.

The majority of the Lower House agrees with the government’s decision that the Netherlands is to start bombing in Syria. A highly dangerous decision. For that reason we have voted against it. Peace organisation Pax, Red Cross and Amnesty International have called for caution, but the majority of the Lower House just ignored that advice. The bombing will not contribute to increasing the safety in the world, will not contribute to increasing the safety in Syria, and will not contribute to increasing the safety in the Netherlands.
On the contrary, participation in the bombings will lead to direct and indirect risks. It can, for example, lead to retaliation in the Netherlands and contribute to further radicalisation. Anyone who wants to make peace with violence will achieve the opposite.
Last year, 28,000 people signed the petition for vegan-friendly options of the popular Ben&Jerry’s ice cream. Ben&Jerry’s has currently announced that the new vegan-friendly flavours will start to be sold in the United States in February of this year. It is great to see that this type of actions has a positive effect.
Research by the Social and Cultural Planning Bureau in the Netherlands has demonstrated that Dutch people increasingly do shopping in a more conscious manner by boycotting certain products and that the number of flexitarians in the Netherlands is growing. If it was up to me, those vegan ice flavours should also be introduced in the Netherlands!

Make your environment aware of these risks too: therefore share this animation film on social media.
