Je voudrais bien commencer par la suivante nouvelle magnifique. La semaine dernière, nous avons connu une percée dans la Deuxième Chambre. Depuis la fondation de notre parti, nous nous sommes battus pour les animaux dans l’industrie du bétail. Il en va de même pour les veaux dans l’industrie laitière qui immédiatement après la naissance, sont cruellement séparés de leur mère et mis dans un soi-disant »box individuel ». Dans la nature, les veaux restent de 6 jusqu’à 12 mois auprès de leur mère.
Les vaches laitières doivent avoir un veau chaque année. Ainsi, leur production de lait reste élevée. La plupart de ces veaux sont un «résidu»: Les petits taureaux ne donnent pas de lait et ne poussent pas assez vite pour en faire du steak. Ils sont abattus pour la viande de veau après 8 mois au maximum.
Le Parti pour les Animaux estime que les veaux ont droit à une mère-vache pour grandir avec, et une majorité de la Deuxième Chambre a maintenant fait savoir qu’elle est du même avis! Je suis heureuse que notre motion pour garder les veaux pendant un certain temps auprès de leur mère, a été adoptée. Nous devons respecter les processus naturels tels que l’élevage des jeunes animaux.

La majorité de la Deuxième Chambre est d’accord avec la décision du gouvernement que les Pays-Bas bombardent la Syrie. Une décision très dangereuse. Nous avons donc voté contre. L’organisation pour la paix Pax, la Croix-Rouge et Amnesty International ont tous appelé à la prudence, mais la majorité de la Deuxième Chambre ne se soucie pas de ces conseils. Les bombardements ne contribueront pas à accroître la sécurité dans le monde, ni à accroître la sécurité en Syrie et non plus à accroître la sécurité aux Pays-Bas. Au contraire, l’implication dans ces bombardements mène directement et indirectement à une mise en danger. Ainsi, ils peuvent provoquer des représailles terroristes aux Pays-Bas et ils favorisent la radicalisation. Qui par la force veut parvenir à la paix, atteindra l’inverse.
L’année passée, 28.000 personnes ont signé une pétition en faveur d’une version végétalienne de la fameuse crème glacée Ben&Jerry’s. Ben&Jerry’s a maintenant annoncé que les nouvelles saveurs végétaliennes seront vendues au courant du mois de février de cette année-ci aux Etats-Unis. Tellement bon de voir que ce type d’actions ait un effet aussi positif.
Des recherches menées par le Bureau du Plan Social et Culturel aux Pays-Bas, montrent que les Néerlandais font leurs courses toujours plus consciemment, par exemple en boycottant certains produits, et qu’il y a de plus en plus de »flexitariens » aux Pays-Bas. Les saveurs de crème glacée végétaliennes peuvent donc certainement aussi venir aux Pays-Bas!
En Irlande, deux personnes sont récemment décédées par la grippe porcine. Si vous voulez, regardez la partie sur les ‘Zoonoses‘ de notre documentaire «One Single Planet» pour en savoir plus sur la relation entre l’industrie du bétail et les risques pour la santé publique. Assurez-vous que votre entourage soit aussi conscient de ces dangers: diffusez cette animation sur les médias sociaux. Dans ‘The Meatrix Relaunched’ sont expliqués de façon très courte, mais très claire, les problèmes que pose l’industrie du bétail à grande échelle.

I would like to start with some fantastic news. Last week we had a major breakthrough in the Lower House. Ever since the start of our party we have been fighting for animals in the livestock industry. As well as for calves in the dairy industry, which are cruelly separated from their mothers upon birth and are put into so-called individual pens. In nature, calves stay with their mothers for 6 to even 12 months.
Dairy cows have to give birth once a year to continue producing milk. The majority of those calves are a ‘by-product: little bulls do not give milk and do not grow fast enough to turn them into steak. After at most 8 months, they are slaughtered to produce veal meat.
The Party for the Animals believes that calves have the right to grow up with their mothers, and a majority of the Lower House now agrees! I am delighted that our motion to keep calves with their mothers for a certain time has been accepted. We must respect natural processes such as the rearing of young animals.
The mother party, calves are allowed to stay with their mothers. Vote for the Party for the Animals!
The majority of the Lower House agrees with the government’s decision that the Netherlands is to start bombing in Syria. A highly dangerous decision. For that reason we have voted against it. Peace organisation Pax, Red Cross and Amnesty International have called for caution, but the majority of the Lower House just ignored that advice. The bombing will not contribute to increasing the safety in the world, will not contribute to increasing the safety in Syria, and will not contribute to increasing the safety in the Netherlands.
On the contrary, participation in the bombings will lead to direct and indirect risks. It can, for example, lead to retaliation in the Netherlands and contribute to further radicalisation. Anyone who wants to make peace with violence will achieve the opposite.
Last year, 28,000 people signed the petition for vegan-friendly options of the popular Ben&Jerry’s ice cream. Ben&Jerry’s has currently announced that the new vegan-friendly flavours will start to be sold in the United States in February of this year. It is great to see that this type of actions has a positive effect.
Research by the Social and Cultural Planning Bureau in the Netherlands has demonstrated that Dutch people increasingly do shopping in a more conscious manner by boycotting certain products and that the number of flexitarians in the Netherlands is growing. If it was up to me, those vegan ice flavours should also be introduced in the Netherlands!

Make your environment aware of these risks too: therefore share this animation film on social media.
