O tratado de livre comércio CETA não deve entrar em vigor provisório

Marianne Thieme apela ao governo para não deixar CETA entrar em vigor provisório. A Comissão Europeia quer que o tratado de livre comércio entre a UE e o Canadá entre em vigor o mais rápido possível. O Partido para os Animais não quer este tratado de jeito nenhum, mas em qualquer caso somente depois que o povo holandês se tenha expressado sobre o assunto.

Considerando a grande resistência contra tratados de livre comércio, um plebiscito sobre CETA é inevitável. Durante a consulta geral do Conselho para Assuntos Exteriores/Conselho Comércio (RBZ/Handelsraad) na Câmara Baixa, a Marianne Thieme apelou ao governo para não deixar CETA entrar em vigor provisório antes que o povo tenha tido a oportunidade de se expressar sobre isto.

Thieme: “Existe uma grande resistência social contra o tratado de livre comércio CETA. Apesar disto Bruxelas quer introduzir o tratado provisoriamente sendo que os parlamentos nacionais absolutamente ainda não deram sinal verde para este tratado. A sociedade chama fortemente por um plebiscito. A democracia deve ser respeitada por Bruxelas e por este governo.”

Porta dos fundos TTIP
Agora que a França e a Alemanha parecem estar se voltando contra TTIP, o tratado de livre comércio entre a UE e os Eu está moribundo. CETA oferece uma porta dos fundos para empresas americanas com um escritório no Canadá para ainda assim poder praticar comércio livre com a Europa. Por isso é tão importante que o cidadão holandês possa dizer ‘não’ contra este tratado desastroso antes que possa entrar em vigor.

Marianne Thieme calls on the Lower House to stop provisional application of CETA. The European Commission wants the free trade agreement between Canada and the EU to be implemented as soon as possible. Being against this agreement, the Party for the Animals wants to give the Dutch people a chance to speak out before it is entered into force.

In view of the considerable resistance to free trade agreements, a referendum on CETA is inevitable. During the General Consultations of the Foreign Affairs Council in the Lower House, Marianne Thieme has called on the government to stop provisional application of CETA and provide the people with the opportunity to give their views on the subject.

Thieme: “There is great social opposition to free trade agreement CETA. In spite of this, Brussels wants the agreement to be implemented provisionally, despite the fact that the national governments have not yet given their support. In society, there is an increasing demand for a referendum. Brussels and the Dutch government should respect democracy.”

Back door TTIP
Now that France and Germany seem to have turned against TTIP, the free trade agreement between the EU and the US is as good as dead. CETA will now serve as a back door allowing American companies with branches in Canada to keep engaging in free trade with Europe. Therefore it is even more important that Dutch citizens can say ‘no’ to this far-reaching agreement before it is implemented.
