Worldlog Settimana 09 – 2013
Scienziati di tutto il mondo si sono incontrati lo scorso fine settimana negli Stati Uniti per parlare di alimentazione vegetariana e i benefici per la salute che ha la stessa per gli uomini. Sabato scorso io ho dato una lezione su che cosa fa Il Partito per gli Animali per promuovere uno stile di vita salutare e vegetale. E stato un grande successo!
Chiunque scrive o dice che la carne di cavallo non è cosi folle dovrebbe vedere questo.
Questa settimana la mia collega Esther Ouwehand ha fatto delle domande parlamentari sulle collisioni tra navi dell’organizzazione per il benessere degli animali Sea Shepherd e navi di baleniere illegali giapponesi. Balenieri giapponesi hanno speronato barche di Sea Shepherd per evitare che questi potevano bloccare le balenieri. Noi chiediamo al governo di chiedere, tra le altre all’ambasciatore giapponese nei Paesi Bassi, chiarimenti riguardante gli eventi che hanno a che fare con questi speronamenti. Specialmente perché le navi attaccate di Sea Shepherd navigano sotto bandiera olandese.

Nel quotidiano inglese The Guardian c’era un articolo molto interessante su grande sponsorizzazione segreta per chi nega l’esistenza di problemi climatici.
Pat Derby, il famoso attivista per gli animali, è venuto a mancare venerdì 15 Febbraio. Era è stato, tra l’altro fondatore della Performing Animal Welfare Society, e ha fatto un fantastico lavoro per il benessere degli animali. Ci mancherà!
La nostra mucca coraggiosa Sjoerdje, che abbiamo comprato un anno fa, salvandola dal macello, non c’è più. Sjoerdje ha avuto un bellissimo anno nella casa di riposo per mucche De Leemweg, dove ha potuto vivere come mucche dovrebbero fare. Purtroppo si è ammalata e non è riuscita a sopravvivere. Molte grazie a tutti coloro che si sono presi cura di Sjoerdje!

Scientists from around the world gathered in the United States last week to discuss the vegetarian diet and its health benefits for people. Last Saturday, I gave a lecture on what the Party for the Animals is doing to promote a healthy vegetable-based lifestyle. It was a success!
Anyone who maintains that horsemeat is not at all as bad as you might first think should watch this.
This week my colleague Esther Ouwehand submitted parliamentary questions on collisions between the ships of animal rights organization Sea Shepherd and ships of illegal Japanese whalers. The Japanese whalers rammed the boats of Sea Shepherd to prevent them staging a blockade action. We have asked to Dutch government to request clarification from the Japanese ambassador regarding these collisions at sea, particularly given the fact that the Sea Shepherd ships attacked sail under the Dutch flag.

British newspaper The Guardian ran a very interesting article on the massive and secret funding of climate change deniers.
Pat Derby, the world-famous animal-rights activist, died on Friday 15 February. She founded the Performing Animal Welfare Society and did fantastic work for animal welfare. She will be missed!
Sjoerdje, the brave cow we saved from the slaughter house last year, is no longer with us. Sjoerdje lived a wonderful year at cow rest home De Leemweg where she could live out the rest of her days as a cow. Unfortunately she succumbed to an illness. We want to thank all those who supported Sjoerdje!
