Worldlog Semana 09 – 2013
Científicos de todo el mundo se reunieron la semana pasada en los Estados Unidos para hablar sobre la nutrición vegetariana y los beneficios que tiene para las personas. Yo di una conferencia el sábado pasado para contar lo que el Partido para los Animales está haciendo para promover una vida saludable vegetariana. Fue un gran éxito!
Esta semana mi colega Esther Ouwehand hizo preguntas parlamentarias sobre las colisiones que se dieron entre los buques de organizaciones de bienestar animal y los barcos ilegales de los balleneros japoneses. Balleneros japoneses han embestido los barcos de Sea Shepherd para impedir que los balleneros pudieran bloquearlos. Pedimos al gobierno holandés para pedir una aclaración sobre los acontecimientos que llegaron a estas colisiones. Sobre todo tomando en consideración que los barcos de Sea Sheperd que fueron atacados llevan la bandera holandesa.

En el periódico británico The Guardian salió un artículo muy interesante sobre el inmenso patrocinio que se está haciendo secretamente a los que niegan los problemas climáticos.
Pat Derby, el activista de los animales de renombre mundial, falleció el viernes, 15 de febrero. Fue uno de los fundadores de la Sociedad del Performing Animal Welfare Society e hizo un gran trabajo para el bienestar de los animales. Lo vamos a extrañar!
Nuestra vaca valiente Sjoerdje que compramos hace un año de la masacre que le esperaba ya no existe. Sjoerdje ha tenido un año maravilloso con en la Casa de Descanso para Vacas De Leemweg donde podía vivir la vida que una vaca merece. Desafortunadamente ella se enfermó y no sobrevivió a eso. Muchas gracias a todos que se han preocupado de Sjoerdje!

Scientists from around the world gathered in the United States last week to discuss the vegetarian diet and its health benefits for people. Last Saturday, I gave a lecture on what the Party for the Animals is doing to promote a healthy vegetable-based lifestyle. It was a success!
Anyone who maintains that horsemeat is not at all as bad as you might first think should watch this.
This week my colleague Esther Ouwehand submitted parliamentary questions on collisions between the ships of animal rights organization Sea Shepherd and ships of illegal Japanese whalers. The Japanese whalers rammed the boats of Sea Shepherd to prevent them staging a blockade action. We have asked to Dutch government to request clarification from the Japanese ambassador regarding these collisions at sea, particularly given the fact that the Sea Shepherd ships attacked sail under the Dutch flag.

British newspaper The Guardian ran a very interesting article on the massive and secret funding of climate change deniers.
Pat Derby, the world-famous animal-rights activist, died on Friday 15 February. She founded the Performing Animal Welfare Society and did fantastic work for animal welfare. She will be missed!
Sjoerdje, the brave cow we saved from the slaughter house last year, is no longer with us. Sjoerdje lived a wonderful year at cow rest home De Leemweg where she could live out the rest of her days as a cow. Unfortunately she succumbed to an illness. We want to thank all those who supported Sjoerdje!
