Worldlog Semena 39 – 2015

Nesta semana tivemos o Dia do Príncipe e o Debate do Orçamento. Aqui, o governo apresenta os seus planos para o próximo ano parlamentar. Notei que o nosso governo ainda quer governar na mesma linha destrutiva. O primeiro-ministro ainda acha que “mais, mais, mais” seja o melhor para nós. “Mais crescimento económico e tudo vai dar certo .” Mas, até agora esta abordagem só levou à crise financeira, a crise bancária, a crise climática etc.

Todos os parlamentares terão a oportunidade de comentar sobre os planos do governo. Na minha contribuição perguntei ao Gabinete para deixar o pensamento fóssil e optar ser mais compassivo, ao ar mais limpo, mais natureza, mais biodiversidade, mais solidáriedade, mais bem-estar, mais educação e mais saúde.

Como todos os anos o dia do orçamento deste ano foi novamente uma excelente oportunidade para fazer uma declaração. Por um longo tempo eu aviso sobre o acordo de comércio livre entre a UE e os EUA, o chamado TTIP. Minha roupa no dia orçamento para este ano foi um protesto contra TTIP e uma solicitação ao governo para cessar as negociações TTIP.

Meu vestido laranja com cruz preta ficou em linha com as etiquetas de advertência de acordo com a Lei de Produtos Perigosos. Meu chapéu simbolizava a nuvem negra que paira sobre nós, graças ao acordo de comércio livre entre a UE e os EUA. Para completar a minha roupa eu usei uma embreagem de bandeiras européias e americanas que se fundem um com o outro num momento cinzento. Eu queria aletar com a minha roupa sobre os perigos que vêm com o TTIP relacionado a democracia, o meio ambiente, bem-estar animal, segurança alimentar e biodiversidade.

Mas na terça-feira, 15 de setembro não foi apenas especial por causa do dia do orçamento. Neste dia, também iniciou a proibição sobre o uso de animais selvagens em circos! Fantástico experimentar algo que nós e um monte de outras organizações há muito tempo lutamos tão duramente para já ser uma realidade.

Nosso grupo europeu viajou para Madrid para protestar contra o massacre bárbaro de touro Rompe-Suelas durante o evento espanhol horror Toro de la Vega. Minha colega Anja Hazekamp, Deputada européio pelo Partido para os Animais, demonstrou nas ruas de Madrid com o partido Espanhol para os animais ‘Pacma’, seguido por cem mil pessoas que também querem que haja um final ao Toro de la Vega. Toro de la Vega acontece na cidade espanhola de Tordesilhas a cada ano, soltam um touro, e por centenas de homens a cavalo e a pé é perseguido e esfaqueado com lanças. Este entretenimento público horrível não pode ser justificado em qualquer forma e absolutamente deve acabar!

This week, Budget Day and the Parliamentary Debate on the Speech from the Throne were held, where the government presented its plans for the next parliamentary year. It struck me that our government wants to continue governing in the same destructive manner. The Prime Minister still thinks that ‘more, more, more’ is good for us. ‘More economic growth and everything will turn out fine’. But until now this approach only led to a financial crisis, the bank crisis, the climate crisis, etc.

All party chairmen were given the opportunity to respond to the government’s plans. During my contribution I thus asked the government to let go of the fossil thinking and to opt for more humanity, cleaner air, more nature, more biodiversity, more care, more animal welfare, more education and more health.

As with every year, this year Budget Day was again a perfect opportunity to make a statement. I have been cautioning against the plan for a free trade agreement between the EU and the US, the so-called TTIP, for a long time. My outfit for this year’s Budget Day was a protest against TTIP and a call to the government to stop the TTIP negotiations.

My orange dress with the black cross was in line with the hazard labels according to the Dutch Chemical Substance Act. My hat symbolised the black cloud that is hanging over our heads because of the free trade agreement between the EU and the US. To complete my outfit I wore a clutch on which the European and American flags merge into each other through a grey area. With my outfit I wanted to warn against the dangers that TTIP brings for democracy, the environment, animal welfare, food security and biodiversity.

But last Tuesday, the 15th of September, was not just a special day because of Budget Day. The ban on the use of wild animals in circuses was also effected on that day. It is great to experience that something that we, and many other organisations, fought so hard and so long for has now become reality.

Our European Group travelled to Madrid to protest against the barbaric slaughtering of bull Rompe-Suelas during the Spanish horrific event Toro de la Vega. My colleague Anja Hazekamp, Euro MP of the Party for the Animals, demonstrated in the streets of Madrid together with the Spanish party for the animals ‘PACMA’, followed by a hundred thousand people who also want the Toro de la Vega to end. Every year at the Toro de la Vega, a bull is released in the Spanish town of Tordesillas and chased by hundreds of horsemen and runners and eventually lanced to death. This cruel public entertainment cannot be justified in any way and definitely has to be stopped!
