Worldlog Semena 20 – 2014
Nesse Worldlog uma retrospectiva da minha semana de campanha para as eleições europeias no dia 22 de maio.
Como já contei no meu Worldlog anterior, nada menos que sete partidos para animais participarão nas eleições europeias em maio. Juntos poderemos fazer resistência contra uma Europa não amigável aos animais, à natureza e ao meio ambiente! Então pela primeira vez teremos políticos no Parlamento Europeu que não dão prioridade aos interesses da própria espécie.
Isso é muito importante, pois é justamente na Europa que são tomadas decisões sobre assuntos que influenciam grandemente a vida e o meio ambiente dos animais. Como por exemplo os subsídios à agro-pecuária e à pescaria e a legislação relativa aos experimentos com animais.
Na sexta-feira dia 9 de maio houve em Amsterdam uma reunião sobre estratégias para todos os partidos para animais participantes nas eleições. Durante a reunião consideramos entre outras coisas os programas eleitorais e as estratégias para maior cooperação. Também foi feito um curto filme apresentando os pontos de vista que os partidos para animais têm em comum.
A nossa líder partidária Anja Hazekamp disse durante a reunião que:
‘Sempre me inspira muito deliberar com colegas de partidos irmãos. Pois também em outros países se trabalha arduamente para dar uma voz aos animais, à natureza e ao meio ambiente na política. É fantástico sentir que fazemos parte de um crescente movimento internacional!’
Ontem nós iniciamos uma turnê nacional de campanha com um caminhão de gado convertido. O caminhão foi submetido a uma metamorfose para mostrar claramente aos eleitores que transportes de animais que duram mais que duas horas não são aceitáveis. A exemplo do artista Bansky o partido guarneceu um caminhão de gado com porcos, vacas, ovelhas, galinhas e cavalos de pelúcia. Os animais pendem do caminhão enquanto que seus gritos de angústia são audíveis.
Dentro do caminhão podem ser vistas imagens de reais transportes de animais para tornar as pessoas conscientes do sofrimento que causamos aos animais só porque a matança em outro lugar custa um pouco menos ou porque queremos presunto de Parma e para isso são transportados porcos da Holanda para a Itália para serem mortos lá.

Na terça-feira eu estive no estúdio fazendo gravações de anúncios publicitários para a radio e a televisão e na quarta-feira eu apareci no programa de televisão holandês “1 op 1” com Sven Kockelmann, para falar sobre a nossa participação nas eleições europeias. Na semana passada um dos jornais nacionais na Holanda, o Algemeen Dagblad, prestou atenção ao apoio de Paul McCartney ao nosso partido.
No meio tempo os holandeses que nos apoiam empurrando a lista estão muito activos nas mídias sociais para propagar tanto quanto possível a nossa mensagem.

In this Worldlog, we will have a look at my campaign week for the European elections on the 22nd of May.
As I already indicated in my previous Wordlog, no less than seven parties for the animals will participate in the European elections this May. Together we can make a stand against animal, nature and environment unfriendly Europe! For the first time there will be politicians in the European Parliament who will not prioritise the interests of their own species.
That is very important because, after all, it is Europe that decides on issues that have a great effect on animals and their living environment. Including agriculture and fishery subsidies and legislation on animal testing.
On Friday the 9th of May, a strategy meeting was held in Amsterdam for all parties for the animals participating in the elections. During this meeting we elaborated on the election programmes and our strategies for further cooperation. Also, a short film was made to present the joint vision of the parties for the animals.
Our leading candidate Anja Hazekamp said the following during the meeting: ‘It is always highly inspiring to consult with colleagues of sister parties. After all, people in other countries are also working hard on giving animals, nature and the environment a voice in politics. It’s great to experience that we are part of a growing international movement!’
Yesterday, we started our national campaign tour in a converted cattle truck. The cattle truck went through a complete metamorphosis to make obvious to voters that animal transports of more than two hours are simply unacceptable. Following the example of the artist Banksy, the party dressed up the cattle truck with plush pigs, cows, sheep, chickens and horses. The animals are hanging out of the cattle truck while their cries for help can clearly be heard.
In the cattle truck, pictures of real animals transports are shown to make people aware of the distress we cause animals because slaughtering them elsewhere is just a few pence cheaper or because we transport pigs from the Netherlands to Italy to slaughter them in Italy because we want to eat Parma ham.

On Tuesday I was in the studio to record radio and tv spots and on Wednesday evening I was on the Dutch television programme “1 on 1” with Sven Kockelmann to talk about our participation in the European elections. Last week, the Algemeen Dagblad, one of the Dutch national newspapers, paid attention to Paul McCartney’s support letter to our party.
Meanwhile, our Dutch candidates at the bottom of the list are highly active on social media to spread our message as much as possible.
My voting recommendation for the 22nd of May: ‘Vote the change you want to see’
