Worldlog Semaine 20 – 2014

Dans ce Worldlog un regard sur ma semaine de campagne pour les élections européennes du 22 mai.

Ce que j’ai déjà indiqué dans mon dernier Worldlog, il y a bien sept partis pour les animaux qui participent aux élections européennes au mois de mai. Ensemble nous pouvons faire front contre l’Europe qui est défavorable aux animaux, à la nature et à l’environnement ! Pour la première fois il y aura des politiciens dans le Parlement européen qui ne donnent pas la priorité à leur propre genre.

C’est très important, parce que c’est juste en Europe que l’on prend des décisions des affaires qui ont une grande influence sur les animaux et leur environnement. Entre autres les subventions de l’agriculture et la pêche et la législation concernant les expériences expérimentales.

Le vendredi 9 mai à Amsterdam il y avait une réunion de stratégie pour tous les partis pour les animaux qui participent aux élections. Pendant cette réunion nous sommes entrés dans les détails des programmes d’élections et d’une stratégie d’une collaboration ultérieure. On a également fait un court métrage dans lequel est présenté la vision commune des partis pour les animaux.

Pendant la réunion notre tête de liste Anja Hazekamp a fait savoir que: ‘C’est toujours très inspirant de délibérer avec des partis sœurs. C’est que dans d’autres pays aussi on travaille fort pour donner une voix aux animaux, à la nature et à l’environnement au niveau politique. C’est fantastique de ressentir que nous faisons partie d’un mouvement international agrandissant!’

Hier nous avons commencé un tour de campagne national avec une bétaillère modifiée. La bétaillère a subi une métamorphose pour faire comprendre aux électeurs que les transports des animaux de plus de deux heures sont inacceptables. Selon l’exemple de l’artiste Banksy le parti a décoré la bétaillère avec des porcs, des vaches, des moutons, des poulets et des chevaux en peluche. Les animaux se penchent de la bétaillère tandis que leurs cris de détresse sont audibles.

Dans la bétaillère on peut voir des images des véritables transports d’animaux pour faire prendre conscience aux gens de la souffrance que nous faisons aux animaux parce que l’abattage est meilleur marché autre part ou que nous transportons des porcs des Pays-Bas en Italie pour les y tuer parce que nous voulons le jambon de Parme.

Mardi j’étais dans le studio pour l’enregistrement des publicités de radio et de télé et mercredi soir j’étais dans le programme de télévision néerlandais “1 op 1” avec Sven Kockelmann pour parler de notre participation aux élections européennes. La semaine dernière l’Algemeen Dagblad, 1 des quotidiens nationaux des Pays-Bas a prêté attention au support de Paul McCartney à notre parti.

Entre-temps nos candidats en queue de liste sont aussi très actifs au niveau des médias sociaux et ils diffusent notre message le plus que possible.

In this Worldlog, we will have a look at my campaign week for the European elections on the 22nd of May.

As I already indicated in my previous Wordlog, no less than seven parties for the animals will participate in the European elections this May. Together we can make a stand against animal, nature and environment unfriendly Europe! For the first time there will be politicians in the European Parliament who will not prioritise the interests of their own species.

That is very important because, after all, it is Europe that decides on issues that have a great effect on animals and their living environment. Including agriculture and fishery subsidies and legislation on animal testing.

On Friday the 9th of May, a strategy meeting was held in Amsterdam for all parties for the animals participating in the elections. During this meeting we elaborated on the election programmes and our strategies for further cooperation. Also, a short film was made to present the joint vision of the parties for the animals.

Our leading candidate Anja Hazekamp said the following during the meeting: ‘It is always highly inspiring to consult with colleagues of sister parties. After all, people in other countries are also working hard on giving animals, nature and the environment a voice in politics. It’s great to experience that we are part of a growing international movement!’

Yesterday, we started our national campaign tour in a converted cattle truck. The cattle truck went through a complete metamorphosis to make obvious to voters that animal transports of more than two hours are simply unacceptable. Following the example of the artist Banksy, the party dressed up the cattle truck with plush pigs, cows, sheep, chickens and horses. The animals are hanging out of the cattle truck while their cries for help can clearly be heard.

In the cattle truck, pictures of real animals transports are shown to make people aware of the distress we cause animals because slaughtering them elsewhere is just a few pence cheaper or because we transport pigs from the Netherlands to Italy to slaughter them in Italy because we want to eat Parma ham.

On Tuesday I was in the studio to record radio and tv spots and on Wednesday evening I was on the Dutch television programme “1 on 1” with Sven Kockelmann to talk about our participation in the European elections. Last week, the Algemeen Dagblad, one of the Dutch national newspapers, paid attention to Paul McCartney’s support letter to our party.

Meanwhile, our Dutch candidates at the bottom of the list are highly active on social media to spread our message as much as possible.

My voting recommendation for the 22nd of May: ‘Vote the change you want to see’
