Worldlog Settimana 52 – 2013

La settimana scorsa ho proposto un disegno di legge con lo scopo di minimizzare drasticamente la caccia nei Paesi Bassi. Voglio che la caccia sull’anatra, lepra, coniglio, fagiano e pigione finirà il prima possibile. Sarebbe fantastico se questo disegno di legge venisse accettato dalla Camera, poiché vorrebbe dire che questa sia l’ultima stagione della caccia. La caccia causa ogni anno molta sofferenza negli animali. Serve un intervento parlamentare subito.

Per questo motivo ho fatto due proposte: chiudere la caccia sulle cinque razze di animali ed integrare nella legge un divieto di caccia. La caccia non è di questi tempi, fortunatamente la maggior parte degli olandesi è d’accordo su ciò. I sondaggi dimostrano che soltanto il tre percento degli olandesi trova la caccia accettabile, mentre il 72 percento della popolazione trova che la caccia debba essere vietata.

Prima delle ferie festive vi era anche un dibattito sulla questione di trasferire delle responsabilità dai Paesi Bassi a Bruxelles. Trovate qui sotto un frammento del mio contributo.

Il primo ministro vuole trasferire più responsabilità ad Europa. Ma siccome il popolo non lo vuole, deve succedere in un modo che si può chiamare “politica di salame”. Il mio partito non adora il salame, ma ancora meno la politica del salame. Non ama neanche la politica dello struzzo, che dice che l’ottanta percento delle regole possa essere implementate con successo. L’ottanta percento della popolazione che è fortemente contraria ad una cosa, mentre gli altri venti percento continuano senza problemi con i loro programmi che danneggiano la sovranità del nostro paese in modo irreversibile. Sovranità non è diventata la parola dell’anno. La parola dell’anno è “Selfie”. Ed è esattamente questo, quello che fa la politica. Dimostrare interesse in se stessi mentre le interesse del popolo vengano completamente ignorate.

Alcune settimane fa ci siamo espressi contro la partecipazione olandese nella missione militare a Mali. Le missioni militari fin’ora hanno focalizzato sul trattare i sintomi o “spegnere gli incendi”. Questo non ha portato a delle soluzioni, neanche allo spegnimento permanente degli incendi. Riteniamo di dover imparare dai risultati dalle missioni violenti precedenti. La pace e la sicurezza non traggono benefici dalla violenza o scopi travestiti. Esistono altri metodi per migliorare la pace e la sicurezza rispetto alle missioni militari. E’ molto importante limitare i cambiamenti climatici per prevenire futuri incendi e ondate di rifugi.

Ho fatto delle domande alla Camera dopo l’estrema violenza contro gli animali nella striscia Gaza. The Guardian disse che il bestiame australiano nella striscia Gaza viene abusato moltissimo. Attenzione, le immagini sono scioccanti. Voglio sapere se anche gli animali olandesi verranno esportati vivi alla striscia Gaza e se così, se questo può essere fermato subito.

All’inizio di gennaio parto per il Portogallo e Madeira per incontrare il partito che ci sta vicino, PAN. A Lisboa e Madeira verrà dimostrato durante la mia visita il documentario “La lepra e la maratona”. Sarà sicuramente una riunione che ispirerà!

Last week, I submitted a private member’s bill to drastically curtail hunting and shooting in the Netherlands. I want to have a ban imposed on hunting and shooting mallard, hare, rabbit, pheasant and wood pigeon as soon as possible. It would be wonderful if the bill were to be adopted by the Lower House of Dutch Parliament, as this season would then be the last hunting season for sport hunters. Every year, sport hunting causes extreme animal suffering. Parliamentary action is required now.

For this purpose, I submitted two motions: closing the hunt for these 5 species and incorporating a ban on sport hunting into law. Sport hunting has become outdated, fortunately, most Dutch people agree on that. Research has shown that only 3 per cent of Dutch people are of the opinion that fun is an acceptable reason for hunting, whereas 72 per cent of the population are of the opinion that hunting as a hobby should be banned.

Just before the Christmas recess, we also had a debate on transferring powers from the Netherlands to Brussels. This is a short fragment from my contribution.

The Prime Minister wants to transfer more powers to Europe. But since the people do not want that, it has to be done by way of salami tactics. My party cares little about salami, and even less about salami tactics. Neither does it care much about burying one’s head in the sand, while assuming that the 80-20 rule can be implemented successfully. 80% of people who explicitly refuse to accept something, while the other 20% continue undisturbed with unwanted plans that irreversibly harm our country’s sovereignty. Sovereignty is not the word of the year. Selfie is the word of the year. And that is precisely what politics are doing. Showing an interest in oneself while the people’s interests are bartered away and their worries ignored.

Several weeks ago, we voted against Dutch participation in the military mission in Mali. So far, military missions have focused on combating symptoms or extinguishing small fires. This has not led to solutions, not even to permanently extinguishing hot spots. We think we should learn from the outcomes of previous violent missions. Violence and disguised objectives are not in the interest of peace and security. Peace and security can be promoted by ways other than military missions. For example, it is very important to limit climate change to prevent future hot spots and flows of refugees.

I asked parliamentary questions following extreme violence against animals in the Gaza Strip. The Guardian wrote that Australian cattle are being severely brutalised in the Gaza Strip. Beware, the images are shocking.

I want to know whether Dutch live animals are also being exported to Gaza and, if so, whether this can be stopped with immediate effect.

Early January, I will travel to Portugal and Madeira to meet with our sister party PAN. During my visits, our documentary The Pacer in the Marathon will be shown in Lisbon and Madeira. It will most definitely be an inspiring meeting!
