Worldlog Settimana 37 – 2015

Lo scorso giugno, il tribunale ha dato ragione al gruppo d’azione Urgenda nella cosiddetta ‘causa clima’. Il giudice ha stabilito che lo Stato olandese dovrebbe effettivamente fare di più per ridurre le emissioni di CO2. Il fatto è che è già molto triste che è necessario di citare lo stato in giudizio, in quanto non fa di per sé sufficientemente per proteggere i cittadini dagli effetti del cambiamento climatico. Sono stato molto contento che il giudice ha dato ragione al gruppo d’azione giudiziaria Urgenda. Specialmente perché i Paesi Bassi sono ancora molto indietro in termini di riduzione di CO2; c’è bisogna di ancora tanto miglioramento! Ma la storia diventa ancora più triste … Lo stato ora farà appello contro questa sentenza. Incomprensibile, è totalmente assurdo che il governo non è disposto a proteggere meglio i propri cittadini ed il clima. Perché, come governo, non ci si vuole assumere questa responsabilità?

Il Collegio dei diritti dell’uomo ha sottolineato la scorsa settimana ancora un altra cosa straordinaria nella politica olandese. Grazie ad un nuovo disegno di legge per quanto riguarda i servizi di intelligence e di sicurezza potrebbero essere intercettati presto tutti olandese da parte dello stato. Anche se non sei sospettato di nulla! Nel disegno di legge non c’ scritto nulla riguardante la tutela della privacy. Inoltre non deve essere richiesto alcuna autorizzazione ad alcuna autorità. E sufficiente l’approvazione del ministro degli Interni. In Svezia, Germania e Belgio, il governo ha almeno bisogno del permesso da un’autorità indipendente, come per esempio un giudice, prima di poter iniziare intercettazioni. Il Partito per gli Animali ritiene importante di garantire la privacy dei cittadini. Quindi mi opporrò contro questo piano.

Giovedì organizzazioni per i diritti degli animali e altri cittadini interessati hanno fatto una azione per vietare l’allevamento di visoni. Pelliccia di visone è un prodotto di lusso molto crudele e anche superfluo. L’allevamento di visoni per la loro pelliccia sarebbe stato vietato nei Paesi Bassi fra alcuni anni. Gli allevatori di visoni non erano d’accordo e sono andati in tribunale. All’epoca hanno vinto questo caso. Fortunatamente il sottosegretario Dijksma non si è fermato e ha fatto ricorso in appello. Giovedì scorso ha avuto luogo l’udienza di questa causa. Prima dell’inizio dell’udienza, alcuni attivisti per i diritti degli animali hanno tenuto una manifestazione pacifica di fronte al palazzo di giustizia. Mentre scrivevo questo Worldlog la sentenza non era ancora noto, perciò vi farò sapere!

MEGAzat, la manifestazione contro le mega-stalle nei Paesi Bassi, è stato un grande successo. Molti cittadini preoccupati si sono riuniti presso il Malieveld dell’Aia per fare sapere al governo che deve essere messo fine a agroindustria intensiva. Il nostro senatore Christine Teunissen ha tenuto un discorso. C’erano naturalmente molti membri del Partito per gli Animali presente! Clicca qui per un servizio fotografico.

In breve, molti cittadini si sono fatto sentire. E questa cosa mi piace. Tieni fede ai tuoi ideali!

Last June, the court ruled in favour of the environmental group Urgenda in the so-called ‘Climate Case’. The court judged that the Dutch State should do more to reduce its CO2 emissions. It is of course sad that it was necessary to file a lawsuit against the State because it did not take sufficient action to protect its citizens against the effects of climate change. I was delighted that the court granted the claim of the environmental group Urgenda. After all, the Netherlands severely lags behind in reducing its CO2 emissions; much improvement is still needed! But the story becomes even sadder… The State will now appeal against the court’s decision. Unbelievable, it is completely absurd that the government is not willing to better protect its own citizens and the climate. Why would they, as the government, not take that responsibility?

The College of Human Rights last week pointed at something else particular in Dutch politics. Thanks to a new bill regarding intelligence and security services it will be possible for the government to wiretap all Dutch citizens. Even if they are not suspected of anything! For the bill does not contain anything on the safeguarding of privacy. Nor is there need to ask any authority for permission. The approval of the Minister of the Interior is enough. At least the governments in Sweden, Germany and Belgium first require the permission of an independent authority, for example of a court, before they can start wiretapping. The Party for the Animals believes that the safeguarding of citizens’ privacy is important. I will thus oppose to this plan.

On Thursday, animal rights groups and other concerned citizens demonstrated in favour of a mink farming ban. Mink fur is a very cruel and, moreover, superfluous luxury product. The farming of minks for fur production was supposed to be banned in a few years. Mink farmers did not agree and went to court. They won their case at the time. Fortunately, State Secretary Dijksma did not let it lie and she filed an appeal. This court case took place last Thursday. Before the start, several animal rights activists held a peaceful manifestation in front of the court building. The court decision was not yet known when I was writing this Worldlog, so this will be continued!

‘MEGA fed up’, the demonstration against mega stables was highly successful. Many concerned citizens gathered at the Malieveld in The Hague to let the government know that factory farming should stop. Our Member of the Upper House Christine Teunissen held a speech.
