L’UE deve intervenire contro un orribile festival dei tori
Il Partito per gli Animali esige che l’Europa assume le proprie responsabilità e invita la Spagna per fermare il festival dell’orrore Toro de Jubilo, dove un toro è dato alle fiamme. Nel corso di questo annuale “festa” spagnolo un giovane toro è legato ad un palo sulla piazza del mercato e le corna dell’animale sono poi incendiate con prodotti chimici. Dopodiché il toro viene rilasciato e braccato fino alla sua morte, dopo una lunga agonia.
“Europa spesso si nasconde dietro la scusa che non è possibile creare una legislazione riguardante tradizioni. Ciò non significa però che dovrebbe guardare dall’altra parte nel caso di indescrivibilmente orribili come Toro de Jubilo. Richiamare un paese per tali abusi è un must se l’Unione Europea è seriamente intenzionata a insistere di essere una comunità di valori,” ha detto Hazekamp.
Il Partito per gli Animali vuole inoltre la garanzia che non vengono utilizzati i fondi comunitari per le feste in cui vengono maltrattati tori. “Il Parlamento europeo si è espressa contro sovvenzionamento dell’allevamento di tori per l’industria della corrida. Vogliamo la garanzia che i festival dell’orrore spagnole, come il Toro Jubilo non traggono beneficio dei sussidi agricoli europei,” dice il Partito per gli Animali.

During these annual Spanish ‘celebrations’ a young bull is tied to a post on the market square and tar is attached to its horns and set alight. The bull is then released and chased until it dies after a long death-struggle.
“Europe often hides behind the excuse that it is not permitted to make laws on traditions. But that doesn’t mean that it can look the other way on indescribable horrifying events as Toro de Jubilo. Spain must be called to account if the EU wants to continue to maintain as a community of values,” according to Hazekamp.
Additionally, the Party for the Animals wants an assurance that EU subsidies are not used for festivals where bulls are abused. “The European Parliament has spoken out against subsidising the breeding of bulls for the bullfighting industry. We also want the assurance that European agricultural subsidies will not benefit Spanish horror festivals like Toro de Jubilo,” according to the Party for the Animals.
