Worldlog Semaine 47 – 2013
Le dimanche dernier j’ai passé une journée très agréable dans le village néerlandais Daarle, quand j’ai visité ‘notre’ forêt de contestation. Nous avons visité le domaine avec 100 des 4800 acheteurs de nature. Après notre action le gouvernement a arrêté à vendre la nature aux Pays-Bas, ce que le secrétaire d’Etat M. Bleker avait déclenché. La raison pour arrêter ces soldes selon secrétaire d’Etat Mme Dijksma est l’inquiétude sociale qui a été causée par la vente de nature. Nous avons joué un rôle important en organisant la “Résistance Poussante” contre la vente de nature. Par une campagne de financement de forêt nous avons rassemblé un quart de million d’euros en quinze jours pour acheter la nature la plus vulnérable. Avec succès: pendant la vente publique nous avons acquiéri presque 100.00 m2 des parties les plus vulnérables de la nature. Voyez ci-dessous un petit compte rendu de photos.
Une réussite pour les chats aux Pays-Bas ! La semaine dernière on a adapté notre motion qui fait appel au gouvernement d’interdire le tir aux chats errants. Il y a quelques semaines la SPA avait commencé une grande action contre le tir aux chats avec un résultat de plus de 134 mille signatures. La semaine dernière la SPA a offert ces signatures au secrétaire d’Etat qui a pourtant dit de ne pas vouloir interdire la chasse aux chats. Je suis très contente que l’Assemblée nationale néerlandaise se soit exprimée en majorité pour notre motion et pour finir le tir aux chats.
Aux Pays-Bas il y a plus de trois millions de chats dont un nombre inconnu vit en sauvage. Nous prenons fait et cause pour une approche effective et favorable aux animaux pour diminuer le nombre de chats errants et le maintenir. Ainsi nous plaidons avec succès pour l’enregistrement et la stérilisation des animaux!
Meat the Truth, notre film qui s’agit entre autres du rapport entre la viande et le changement de climat, a été montré à Zurich la semaine dernière! Après la fin j’avais encore un interview par Skype. C’est magnifique de voir que notre message se répand de plus en plus.

La semaine dernière le Parti pour le Travail (PvdA) a voté contre notre motion pour une défense des étables énormes qui, notez bien, a été déposée par une ancienne députée du Parti pour le Travail Mme Sharon Dijksma (secrétaire d’Etat maintenant). C’est incompréhensible parce qu’il n’y a pas d’accords gouvernementaux avec le Parti populaire de la Démocratie et de la Liberté (VVD qui est pour les étables énormes) concernant les étables énormes et qu’il existe une majorité dans l’Assemblée pour arrêter les étables énormes. Une tournure gigantesque du PvdA. Dans quelques semaines nous aurons un grand débat concernant les étables énormes et j’espère que le PvdA aura changé d’avis et tiendra ses promesses d’élection!

On Sunday last week we had a very nice day in the Dutch village of Daarle when we visited ‘our’ protest forest. 100 of the 4800 nature buyers visited the area. After our action, the Government stopped the sale of nature in the Netherlands, which was initiated by State Secretary Bleker. State Secretary Dijksma said that the reason for this was the social unrest that had arisen because of the sale of nature. We played an important role in organising the Growing Resistance against the sale of nature. One quarter of a million euro was raised through a ‘forest funding campaign’ in over two weeks’ time to buy the freedom of the most vulnerable nature area. Quite successfully: in the auction, we acquired almost 100,000 square metres of the most vulnerable pieces of nature. See the small photo report below.
Success for the cats in the Netherlands! Last week our motion that called for the Government to end the shooting of stray cats was adopted. The Dutch Society for the Protection of Animals started a big action against the shooting of cats a few weeks ago, which resulted in more than 134 thousand signatures. Last week the Dutch Society for the Protection of Animals presented these signatures to the State Secretary, who, however, said that he did not want to prohibit the hunt for cats. I am delighted that a majority of the Lower House voted for our motion to put an end to the shooting of cats.
There are over three million cats in the Netherlands, of which an unknown number are living in the wild. We advocate an animal-friendly and effective approach to reducing and controlling the number of stray cats. We have successfully pleaded for registration and sterilisation of the animals!
Meat the Truth, our film about the link between meat and climate change among other things, was shown in Zürich last week. Afterwards I had a Skype-interview. It is great to see that our message is being spread.

Last week, the Labour Party (PvdA) voted against our motion to ban mega stables, which was previously submitted by former Labour MP Sharon Dijksma (State Secretary at present). Incomprehensible because nothing had been agreed on mega stables in the coalition agreement with the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) (which is in favour of mega stables), and because the majority of the Lower House is in favour of pulling the plug out of mega stables. The PvdA took a mega turn. We are going to have an extensive debate on mega stables in a few weeks’ time, and I really hope that the PvdA will have changed its mind again and will adhere to its election promises!
