Le Parlement veut retour des Macaques crabiers chez AAP
L’Assemblée nationale néerlandaise veut que les cinq Macaques crabiers sauvés seront hébergés de façon permanente chez l’organisation néerlandaise du bien-être des animaux ‘Stichting AAP’, une fondation qui s’occupe des espèces exotiques. Les animaux, qui ont été saisis dans le port de Rotterdam en 2014, ont été soignés par ‘Stichting AAP’ pendant un an et demi et récemment ils ont été transportés au laboratoire des singes BPRC à Rijswijk. Une majorité parlementaire trouve cela inacceptable et a supporté une motion du Parti pour les Animaux pour héberger ces animaux chez AAP en permanence.
En 2014 cinq Macaques crabiers ont été trouvés sur un bateau provenant de Malaisie. Les animaux très faiblis ont été saisis et emmenés à ‘Stichting AAP’. Pendant un an et demi les singes ont pu y reprendre des forces. Le ministère des Affaires étrangères, le propriétaire des animaux, a décidé de les envoyer au Centre Biomédical de la Recherche des Primates (BPRC), un centre pour animaux de laboratoire à Rijswijk. Ils y serviraient comme animaux d’élevage.
L’Assemblée nationale néerlandaise trouve cela inacceptable et veut que les singes seront hébergés de permanence chez ‘Stichting AAP’. Le député du Parti pour les Animaux Frank Wassenberg: “Le laboratoire des singes est le tout dernier endroit où l’on devrait vouloir envoyer ces singes. Super que le Parlement non plus considère le BPRC comme un bon refuge.”
The Dutch Lower House wants five rescued Java monkeys to permanently stay with the Dutch animal welfare organisation AAP. The animals, which were confiscated on the port of Rotterdam in 2014, have been looked after by the AAP foundation for 18 months and were recently sent off to the primate laboratory BPRC in Rijswijk. A majority in the Lower House finds this unacceptable and has supported a motion by the Party for the Animals to let these animals stay with AAP permanently.
In 2014, five Java monkeys were discovered on a ship from Malaysia. The extremely weakened animals were confiscated and brought to the AAP foundation, where they were allowed to regain their strength in the following eighteen months. The Ministry of Economic Affairs, owner of the animals, has decided to send the monkeys to the Biomedical Primate Research Centre (BPRC) in Rijswijk, where they will be used as breeding animals.
The Lower House finds this unacceptable and wants the monkeys to be placed with the AAP foundation permanently. Party for the Animals MP Frank Wassenberg: “A primate laboratory is the very last place we should want to send these monkeys. Fortunately, the Lower House agrees that the BPRC is not appropriate as a shelter for these animals.”
