Nos alegra que Barack Obama ha sido re-electo como presidente de los Estados Unidos. Así se evita una situación peor para ese país. Esperemos ahora nuevas perspectivas en el campo de la compasión y la sostenibilidad. Si fuera posible comparar los resultados de las elecciones de los Estados Unidos con los de los Países Bajos los resultados se podrían explicar como sigue: el votante ha determinado que Obama y Romney tendrán que hacer el trabajo junto’. En efecto, además de la presidencia, existen diversas mayorías en la Cámara de Representantes y en el Senado. En este sentido, se puede hablar de "mucho ruido y pocas nueces".
Mi preferencia de voto en estas elecciones Americanas era para Jill Stein. Ella era la candidata del partido verde en las elecciones. Su meta es convertir la casa blanca en una "casa verde". Quisiera agradecerla mucho por traer a la campana electoral la compasión y la sostenibilidad! Realmente genial!

El viernes pasado la Reina Beatriz visitó la provincia de Noord-Brabant. La Reina ha asistido a una charla allí sobre la agricultura intensiva en la provincia. Es bueno que se organiza el debate sobre la agricultura intensiva en la provincia de Brabant y que durante la visita de la reina se prestó atención a la problemática.
Sin embargo, es importante que la Reina haya recibido una visión completa de los problemas vigentes en Brabant . Por lo tanto hubiera sido importante que, además de los campesinos y aldeanos, también las organizaciones sociales y representantes de organizaciones de partes interesadas estuvieran presentes en la entrevista. Por tanto, he hecho preguntas parlamentarias sobre los participantes en la conversación, ya que existe la impresión de que los residentes con problemas ambientales y organizaciones del medio ambiente tuvieron que comunicar son Su Majestad a través de sus banderas de protesta.
PiepVandaag, una comunidad en línea de personas que defienden a los animales, la naturaleza y el medio ambiente, ha iniciado una campaña de firmas en contra de las actividades crueles del artista belga Jan Fabre. Este supuesta "artista" lanzó gatos en el aire que luego terminaron en las escaleras. Todo esto únicamente para grabar una película bajo el pretexto de un proyecto de arte. Algunos de los gatos no aterrizaron sobre sus patas y sus gritos le llegaron a uno muy adentro. Increíble que alguien puede hacer semejante cosa con seres vivos con conciencia y sentimientos! Fabre anteriormente lleno el techo del Palacio Real de Bélgica con 1,5 millones de caparazones de escarabajos Tailandeses. Un buen ejemplo de cómo marchan las cosas en el sector bancario: A Loo with a View. Se ve como los bancarios en Frankfurt literalmente ven por debajo al pueblo que les hizo ricos.

It is great news that Barack Obama was re-elected. His re-election means a better future for the United States. But now let’s hope for real progress in the areas of tolerance and sustainability. If you compare the results in the USA with the situation in the Netherlands, the outcome in the USA can be described thus: “the voter has decided that Obama and Romney will have to work together”. After all, in addition to the presidency, there are changing majorities in the house of representatives and the senate. From that perspective, we can say it’s all “much ado about nothing”.
My favourite candidate in these American elections was Jill Stein, the green candidate. Her aim is to transform the white house in a “green house”. I would like to thank her for bringing compassion and sustainability to the campaign! Excellent!

Last Friday, Queen Beatrix visited the province of North Brabant, where she attended a discussion on intensive factory farming in the province. We welcome the fact that the issue of factory farming in Brabant is being discussed and the presence of the queen meant the issue got more attention.
However, it is important that the queen get a full and balanced impression of the problems in Brabant. Consequently, it is vital that, in addition to farmers and local people, also social organizations and representatives from interest groups are present during the discussion. I have submitted parliamentary questions regarding the parties invited to participate in the discussion as there is the feeling that worried residents and environmental organizations mostly have to resort of demonstrations to get the attention of Her Majesty.
PiepVandaag, an internet community of people concerned about animals, nature and the environment, has started a petition against the animal-unfriendly activities of Belgian artist Jan Fabre. This so-called “artist” filmed cats being thrown up into the air to land on some stairs for an art project. Some of the cats did not land on their feet and the crying was chilling. Unbelievable that someone could do this to living creatures that are aware and feel!
