Marianne Thieme fará uma tournée de leituras pela Austrália
A convite da organização australiana para os direitos de animais Voiceless, Marianne Thieme dará numa série de leituras na Austrália entre 4 e 17 de maio. A líder do Partido para os Animais falará durante dez palestras em universidades e num escritório de advocacia sobre como incutir o debate sobre os direitos animais e o significado político disto.
A organização australiana para os direitos de animais Voiceless convidou Marianne Thieme, voz proeminente e pioneira do movimento político mundial para os direitos animais, para falar no 2016 Voiceless Animal Law Lecture Series. Como fundadora e líder do Partido para os Animas a Thieme falará sobre a maneira pela qual ela incutiu o debate sobre direitos animais dentro e fora da Holanda. E porque influencia sobre a formação de decisões políticas é um instrumento necessário para melhorar a posição de animais, da natureza e do meio-ambiente. Entrementes, seguindo o exemplo do Partido para os Animais holandês, já existem internacionalmente 13 partidos políticos activos com as mesmas opiniões e outros estão em preparação.
Quase 1700 pessoas já se registraram para assistir uma das leituras.
Eleições Austrália
Com a série de leituras Voiceless quer que direitos animais e bem-estar animal tomem parte nas eleições nacionais que serão efectuadas este ano na Austrália. Neste momento o partido para os animais australiano Animal Justice Party é representado no parlamento do estado australiano New South Wales com uma cadeira. O partido foi eleito em 2015 no New South Wales Legislative Council.
At the invitation of Australian animal rights organisation Voiceless, Marianne Thieme will deliver a series of lectures in Australia between 4 and 17 May. During ten lectures at universities and a law firm, the Party for the Animals’ leader will talk about encouraging the animal rights debate and its political meaning.
Marianne Thieme, a prominent voice and pioneer of the global political animal rights movement, has been invited by the Australian animal rights organisation Voiceless to speak at the 2016 Voiceless Animal Law Lecture Series. As founder and party leader of the Party for the Animals, Marianne Thieme will discuss her role in encouraging the animal rights debate in the Netherlands and other countries, as well as the role of influencing political decision-making as a necessary instrument for improving the position of animals, nature and environment. Following the example of the Dutch Party for the Animals, there are now 13 like-minded political parties worldwide and still more are being established.
Nearly 1700 people have already registered to attend one of the lectures.
Australian elections
With this series of lectures, Voiceless wants to make animal rights and welfare part of the national elections held in Australia this year. The Australian Animal Justice Party is currently represented by one seat in the Parliament of the Australian state of New South Wales. In 2015, the party was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Council.
