I pericoli di microplastica, su cosa abbiamo già fatto inizio ottobre delle domande al Parlamento, finalmente sono state riconosciute dal sottosegretario per l'ambiente Atsma! In risposta alle nostre domande Atsma dice che l'utilizzo di mircroplastiche di fatto contribuisce alla formazione di zuppe di plastica, oppure la discarica galleggiante in mezzo all'oceano. Atsma ha promesso che sottoporrà all'attenzione della Commissione Europea per verificare le possibilità di ridurre l'emissione di mircoplastica.

Il problema è come segue: in tanti prodotti per la cura personale, come scrubs e peeling, si trovano minuscole particelle di plastica. Questa plastica non si dissolve dopo l'uso, ma sparisce con l'acqua della doccia verso gli impianti di depurazione. Perché queste particelle sono troppo piccole per essere filtrato, oltrepassano impianti di depurazione e finiscono nel mare, dove la plastica è mangiata dai pesci e crostacei e inquinano il mare. Queste parti plastiche sono facilmente sostituibili con alternative naturali. Questo però adesso non succede perche l'utilizzo di plastica nei prodotti di cura personale è permesso fino ad adesso. Noi riteniamo che il problema debba essere risolta alla fonte, e perciò ci battiamo per un divieto di vendita di cosmetici e prodotti di cura personale che contengono microplastica.

Venerdì mattina mi sono svegliata arrossendo, perché il 97 percento dei nostri giovani mi da un voto di 8,2 per il mio lavoro in parlamento. Anche il funzionamento della nostra frazione è considerato dal 91 percento dei giovani come buono. Il programma televisivo Olandese EenVandaag ha chiesto a più di 1600 giovani che sono membro di un’organizzazione politica giovanile come valutano il funzionamento del loro stesso partito e cosa pensano dell'attuale governo Rutte. Ottante percento dei PINK!-membri ritiene che il Partito per gli Animali come partito di opposizione offre chiare alternative ai piani del governo e 81 percento sono del parare che il partito più che altro deve continuare nella direzione che sta seguendo. Una cosa di cui essere fiero!

Domenica prossimo ci saranno elezione amministrative in Spagna. PACMA, il partito spagnolo per gli animali partecipa anche. E sfortunatamente la macellazione senza anestetici di animali continua per adesso in Australia. Noi scommettiamo che il 13 Dicembre riusciamo a convincere il Senato della necessità di un divieto sulla macellazione rituale senza l'uso di anestetici nei Paesi Bassi. Liberà di religione finisce, dove la sofferenza (di animali) inizia.

Anche a te non piacciono i colletti di pelliccia? Fai il divertente gioco dell'associazione per la protezione degli animali PETA e aiuta a farsi che il cane procione Tanooki riesce a riavere la sua pelliccia. A parte il gioco si tratta più che poiché l'uccisione dei cani procione per la loro pelliccia deve terminare. In tutto il mondo, anche nei Paesi Bassi, persone comprano giacche con coletti in pelliccia fatto con la pelliccia di cani procione. Il Partito per gli Animali combatte e continua a combattere per un’Olanda senza pelliccia.

E buone notizie dagli USA. Lì è stata presentata una proposta di legge per un divieto di animali selvaggi nei circhi. La proposta è stata presentata nel parlamento da parte del democratico Jim Moran. Lui vuole porre fine a elefanti su sgabelli tigri che saltano attraverso cerchi. Speriamo che la proposta sarà accolta.

The dangers of microplastics, which were the subject of Parliamentary questions we submitted in early October, are now finally being recognized by State Secretary for the Environment Atsma! In responding to our questions, Atsma admits that microplastics do indeed contribute to the formation of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Atsma went on to promise that he would raise the matter with the European Commission to find out what can be done to reduce the discharge of microplastics.

The problem is as follows: many personal care products, such as scrubs and peelings, contain minuscule plastic particles. These plastic particles do not dissolve after use but are carried away with the water from your shower to the water treatment plants. Since the particles are too small to be filtered out of the water, they pass through the water treatment plants and eventually end up in the sea, where the plastic is eaten by fish and shellfish and where it poisons the sea. While natural alternatives to these plastic particles exist, these are not used as the use of plastics in personal care products has so far been permitted. We consider this a problem that must be tackled at the source and argue for a ban on the sale of cosmetics and personal care products that contain microplastics.

On Friday morning I woke up with a blush! Ninety-seven percent of our young members had given me an 8.2 report mark for my work in the Lower House. And with 91%, the performance of our parliamentary party also received a thumbs-up from our youth section. Dutch TV programme EenVandaag asked more than 1600 young people who are members of a political youth organization to assess the performance of their own parties and that of the current government led by Mark Rutte. Eighty percent of PINK! members think that, as an opposition party, the Party for the Animals offers clear alternatives to the government’s plans and 81% thinks the party should stay on its current course. Now that is something to be proud of!

Parliamentary elections will be held in Spain next Sunday. PACMA, the Spanish party for the animals, is also standing for election. I will be keeping my fingers crossed here in the Netherlands and hope they are able to secure several seats in the Spanish parliament. For the latest on the elections, go to http://www.pacma.es/.

We are going to do all we can to convince the Upper House on 13 December of the need for a ban on the ritual slaughter of animals without stunning in the Netherlands. All over the world, including the Netherlands, people buy jackets with fur collars made of the fur of raccoon dogs. The Party for the Animals is striving for a fur-free Netherlands.

And good news from the US, where a bill has been submitted for a ban on the use of wild animals in circuses. The bill was submitted in the House of Representatives by Democrat Jim Moran. He wants to see an end to elephants balancing on stools and tigers jumping through hoops. We hope this bill is adopted.
