Los peligros de los micro plásticos, sobre los cuales ya hicimos preguntas parlamentarias en octubre, ahora por fin son reconocidos aquí por el secretario del estado, el señor Atsma del departamento medio ambiente. En respuesta a nuestras preguntas Atsma dice que el uso de micro-plásticos en realidad contribuye a la formación de la ‘sopa de plástico’, o mejor dicho el vertedero de basura flotando en el medio del océano. Atsma prometió además que va a plantear la cuestión en la Comisión Europea para que estudien la posibilidad de reducir la emisión de micro-plásticos.

El problema es el siguiente: en muchos productos para el cuidado personal como exfoliantes y peelings, existen pequeñas partículas de plástico. Este plástico no se disolverá después de su uso, pero desaparece con el agua de la ducha para llegar a las plantas de tratamiento de agua. Como las partículas son demasiado pequeñas para filtrar del agua, se deslizan por las instalaciones para la filtración del agua y terminan al mar, donde los peces y mariscos comen el plástico y causa del envenenamiento del mar. Estas partículas de plástico son fáciles de reemplazar por alternativas naturales. Esto no sucede porque hasta ahora el uso de plásticos en los productos para el cuidado personal ha estado permitido. Creemos que el problema inicial, debe ser atacado desde la raiz, y queremos la prohibición de la venta de cosméticos y cuidado personal en los cuales están procesados los microplasticos.

Viernes por la mañana me desperté rubicundo al saber que un 97 por ciento de nuestra juventud me da un 8,2 para mi trabajo en el Parlamento. Tambien el funcionamiento de nuestra fracción es calificado como bueno por 91 por ciento de los jóvenes. El programa de televisión holandesa EénVandaag pregunto a más de 1600 jóvenes que son miembros de una organización política juvenil, cómo juzgan el funcionamiento de su propio partido. Ademas se les pregunto que les parece del funcionamiento del actual gobierno Rutte. El ochenta por ciento de los miembros de PINK! Opinan que el Partido para los Animales ofrece como partido de la oposición unas alternativas claras para los planes del gobierno y 81 por ciento cree que el partido debe seguir su rumbo de ahora. Algo para estar orgullosos!

El próximo domingo hay elecciones parlamentarias en España. PACMA, el Partido Espanol para los Animales, tambien participa. Vamos a tener los dedos cruzados desde Holanda para un buen resultado con varias representantes en el Parlamento. Y, por desgracia, la masacre de animales sin aturdimiento sigue en Australia. Nosotros contamos con que el 13 de diciembre podamos convencer al Senado de la necesidad de una prohibición de masacre ritual sin aturdimiento en los Países Bajos. La libertad religiosa termina donde el sufrimiento de los animales comienza.

A Usted tampoco le gustan los collares de piel? Haz el juego divertido de la organización de protección animal PETA y ayude al perro mapache Tanooki reconquistar su piel. Además del juego, por supuesto, sobre todo se debe terminar la matanza de perros mapache por su piel. En todo el mundo, incluidos los Países Bajos, la gente compra las chaquetas con cuellos de piel hechos de la piel de los perros mapaches. El Partido por los Animales lucha y seguirá luchando por una Holanda libre de pieles.

Y para terminar unas buenas noticias desde los EE.UU.. Alli se presento un proyecto de ley para prohibir los animales salvajes en los circos. La propuesta fue hecha en la Cámara de Representantes por el demócrata Jim Moran. Él quiere poner fin a los elefantes y los tigres saltando las heces a través de aros. Esperemos que la propuesta sea aceptada.

The dangers of microplastics, which were the subject of Parliamentary questions we submitted in early October, are now finally being recognized by State Secretary for the Environment Atsma! In responding to our questions, Atsma admits that microplastics do indeed contribute to the formation of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Atsma went on to promise that he would raise the matter with the European Commission to find out what can be done to reduce the discharge of microplastics.

The problem is as follows: many personal care products, such as scrubs and peelings, contain minuscule plastic particles. These plastic particles do not dissolve after use but are carried away with the water from your shower to the water treatment plants. Since the particles are too small to be filtered out of the water, they pass through the water treatment plants and eventually end up in the sea, where the plastic is eaten by fish and shellfish and where it poisons the sea. While natural alternatives to these plastic particles exist, these are not used as the use of plastics in personal care products has so far been permitted. We consider this a problem that must be tackled at the source and argue for a ban on the sale of cosmetics and personal care products that contain microplastics.

On Friday morning I woke up with a blush! Ninety-seven percent of our young members had given me an 8.2 report mark for my work in the Lower House. And with 91%, the performance of our parliamentary party also received a thumbs-up from our youth section. Dutch TV programme EenVandaag asked more than 1600 young people who are members of a political youth organization to assess the performance of their own parties and that of the current government led by Mark Rutte. Eighty percent of PINK! members think that, as an opposition party, the Party for the Animals offers clear alternatives to the government’s plans and 81% thinks the party should stay on its current course. Now that is something to be proud of!

Parliamentary elections will be held in Spain next Sunday. PACMA, the Spanish party for the animals, is also standing for election. We are going to do all we can to convince the Upper House on 13 December of the need for a ban on the ritual slaughter of animals without stunning in the Netherlands. All over the world, including the Netherlands, people buy jackets with fur collars made of the fur of raccoon dogs. The Party for the Animals is striving for a fur-free Netherlands.

And good news from the US, where a bill has been submitted for a ban on the use of wild animals in circuses. The bill was submitted in the House of Representatives by Democrat Jim Moran. He wants to see an end to elephants balancing on stools and tigers jumping through hoops. We hope this bill is adopted.
