Worldlog Settimana 39 – 2015

Questa settimana era Prinsjesdag (il terzo martedì di settembre in cui si apre il nuovo anno parlamentare) e ha avuto luogo il dibattito sul bilancio. All’occasione il governo presenta i suoi piani per il prossimo anno parlamentare. Ho notato che il nostro governo vuole ancora continuare governare nella stessa linea distruttivo. Il presidente del Consiglio pensa ancora che “di più, di più, di più” e cosa buono per noi. “Più crescita economica e allora tutto andrà probabilmente a posto”. Ma finora questo approccio ha portato solo alla crisi finanziaria, la crisi del sistema bancario, la crisi climatica, etc.

Tutti presidenti delle frazioni in parlamento avranno la possibilità di presentare osservazioni sui piani del governo. Durante il mio intervento ho quindi chiesto al Governo di lasciarsi andare il suo modo di pensare fossile e optare per più compassione per gli altri, più aria pulita, più natura, più biodiversità, più cura per le persone, più benessere per gli animali, più istruzione e più salute.

Come ogni anno Prinsjesdag è stato anche quest’anno di nuovo un’ottima occasione per fare una dichiarazione. Già da molto tempo avverto per il piano per un accordo di libero scambio tra l’UE e gli Stati Uniti, il cosiddetto TTIP (Trattato transatlantico sul commercio e gli investimenti). Il mio vestito di Prinsjesdag di quest’anno era una protesta contro il TTIP e un appello al governo di cessare i negoziati TTIP.

Il mio vestito arancione con croce nera era in linea con le etichette di avvertimento ai sensi della Legge sulle sostanze pericolose per l’ambiente. Il mio cappello simboleggiava la nube scura che incombe su di noi, grazie all’accordo di libero scambio tra l’UE e gli USA. Per completare il mio outfit ho indossato una pochette sulla quale le bandiere europee e americane confluiscono tra di loro tramite una zona grigia. Con il mio vestito, ho voluto mettere in guardia contro i pericoli che derivano dal TTIP per la democrazia, l’ambiente, il benessere degli animali, la sicurezza alimentare e la biodiversità.

Ma Martedì scorso, 15 settembre non è stato solo un giorno speciale a causa di Prinsjesdag. In questo giorno, è entrato in vigore il divieto dell’uso di animali selvatici nei circhi! È favoloso di poter assistere ad una cosa per la quale abbiamo, noi e tante altre organizzazioni, lottato duramente cosi a lungo, finalmente ora è realtà.

La nostra delegazione nel parlamento europeo è andata a Madrid per protestare contro il massacro barbaro del toro Rompe-Suelas durante l’evento horror spagnolo Toro de la Vega. La mia collega Anja Hazekamp, europarlamentare per Il Partito per gli Animali, ha dimostrata nelle strade di Madrid assieme al Partito per gli Animali spagnolo ‘PACMA’, seguito da un centomila persone che vogliono che vogliono che finirà il Toro de la Vega. Toro de la Vega, nella città spagnola di Tordesillas, ogni anno viene liberato un toro, e inseguito da centinaia di uomini a cavallo ed a piedi e pugnalato a morte con delle lance. Questo raccapricciante spettacolo popolare non può essere giustificato in alcun modo e deve assolutamente finire!

This week, Budget Day and the Parliamentary Debate on the Speech from the Throne were held, where the government presented its plans for the next parliamentary year. It struck me that our government wants to continue governing in the same destructive manner. The Prime Minister still thinks that ‘more, more, more’ is good for us. ‘More economic growth and everything will turn out fine’. But until now this approach only led to a financial crisis, the bank crisis, the climate crisis, etc.

All party chairmen were given the opportunity to respond to the government’s plans. During my contribution I thus asked the government to let go of the fossil thinking and to opt for more humanity, cleaner air, more nature, more biodiversity, more care, more animal welfare, more education and more health.

As with every year, this year Budget Day was again a perfect opportunity to make a statement. I have been cautioning against the plan for a free trade agreement between the EU and the US, the so-called TTIP, for a long time. My outfit for this year’s Budget Day was a protest against TTIP and a call to the government to stop the TTIP negotiations.

My orange dress with the black cross was in line with the hazard labels according to the Dutch Chemical Substance Act. My hat symbolised the black cloud that is hanging over our heads because of the free trade agreement between the EU and the US. To complete my outfit I wore a clutch on which the European and American flags merge into each other through a grey area. With my outfit I wanted to warn against the dangers that TTIP brings for democracy, the environment, animal welfare, food security and biodiversity.

But last Tuesday, the 15th of September, was not just a special day because of Budget Day. The ban on the use of wild animals in circuses was also effected on that day. It is great to experience that something that we, and many other organisations, fought so hard and so long for has now become reality.

Our European Group travelled to Madrid to protest against the barbaric slaughtering of bull Rompe-Suelas during the Spanish horrific event Toro de la Vega. My colleague Anja Hazekamp, Euro MP of the Party for the Animals, demonstrated in the streets of Madrid together with the Spanish party for the animals ‘PACMA’, followed by a hundred thousand people who also want the Toro de la Vega to end. Every year at the Toro de la Vega, a bull is released in the Spanish town of Tordesillas and chased by hundreds of horsemen and runners and eventually lanced to death. This cruel public entertainment cannot be justified in any way and definitely has to be stopped!
