Worldlog Settimana 37 – 2014

Siamo sull’urlo del baratro quando si tratta dalle nostre campagne. E l’ho anche fatto sapere al sottosegretario per l’Agricoltura la scorsa settimana in un dibattito sulle mega-stalle. La politica del sottosegretario fa che i Paesi Bassi si trasformano in una grande zona industriale con fabbriche di animali. Durante il dibattito ho consegnato simbolicamente la prima pietra al sottosegretario con la domanda se potevo consegnarla la prima pietra per la costruzione di una nuovo megastalla. Oppure se la pietra diventasse un cippo di confine?

Palazzi di maiali e torri di polli minacciano di trasformare ciò che è verde in grigio. Causa la produzione di massa la vita contadina diventa una macchina ben oliata e aumenterà il traffico di camion con mangimi, letame e animali pronti per il macello. Tutto questo è reso possibile da un piano per consentire ai comuni e alle province la decisione per la costruzione di mega-stalle. Il governo dà lascia alle autorità locali cosi la possibilità di rilasciare in continuazione permessi per nuove mega-stalle.

Il confine di un paese non sarà più un pascolo con le mucche, ma un terreno con le fabbriche di animali. Piccole aziende a conduzione familiare saranno portati alla chiusura causa la concorrenza da grandissime società. Già adesso sette agricoltori al giorno nei Paesi Bassi smetto la loro attività, e cosi il tasso di spazi non utilizzati nelle di proprietà agricole nel 2030 sarà più alto di quello di uffici e negozi… Questo deve finire!

Buone notizie J Su nostra insistenza i Paesi Bassi finalmente si impegneranno per fermare l’orribile massacro di delfini. Il sottosegretario ha promesso di cogliere l’occasione della prossima riunione annuale della Commissione internazionale per la caccia alle balene (IWC) per proteggere meglio i delfini. Fino ad ora, solo le balene rientrano nel regime di protezione dell’IWC, creando da tanti anni una moratoria sulla caccia alle balene. I Paesi Bassi ora invocheranno un divieto anche per i delfini e piccoli cetacei!

Anche la nostro europarlamentare Anja Hazekamp ha scritto interrogazioni alla Commissione europea, che negozia a nome dell’Unione europea su un accordo di libero scambio con il Giappone.

Sabato scorso abbiamo avuto un giorno speciale. Philip Wollen ha tenuto una conferenza nel parlamento per i nostri membri. E stato un grande onore di averlo potuto accogliere. Philip Wollen è ex vice presidente di Citibank. Dopo aver lasciato lì, si è concentrato interamente sulla protezione degli animali. Ha iniziato diversi progetti per aiutare gli animali bisognosi. L’anno scorso gli abbiamo dato come Partito per gli Animali un certificato per tutto il suo favoloso lavoro per gli animali. Di seguito è riportato un piccolo reportage fotografico:

E’ stata la settimana scorsa Martedì sostenibile. Nel parlamento sono state presentate molte iniziative per un mondo più sostenibile. Una di queste grandi iniziative proviene dal politecnico di Delft. Si può andare dai studenti del politecnico di TU Delft e farsi “trasformare” la macchina a benzina in un’auto elettrica 🙂 Che forte!

Time is running out for our countryside. And that is exactly what I told our State Secretary of Agriculture last week during a debate on mega stalls. The State Secretary’s policy is causing the Netherlands to turn into one big industrial area with animal factories. During the debate I symbolically gave the State Secretary a first brick and I asked her if it would be a first brick for the construction of a new mega stall, or if it could be a landmark?

Pigs flats and chicken towers are threatening to turn our green into grey. Because of bulk production, farming life has changed into a well oiled machine and trucks are driving from and to the farms with food, manure and cattle for slaughter. All this is made possible by the government’s intention to leave the decision on the construction of mega stalls up to the councils and provinces. In this way they are enabling local governments to routinely grant licences for mega stalls.

The border of a village will change from a field with cows to an area with animal factories. Small family farms will be driven out of business by mega farms. Seven farmers a day in the Netherlands already are giving up their work, and the vacancy of agricultural real estate will be higher in 2030 than that of offices and shops… This must stop!

Good news 🙂 Following our requests, the Netherlands is finally going to endeavour to end the horrific dolphin killings. The State Secretary promised to seize the annual meeting of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) to improve the protection of dolphins. Until now only whales have been subject to the IWC’s protection regime, as a result of which there has been a moratorium for whaling for years. The Netherlands is now going to plead for a ban on the hunting of dolphin and small whales.

Our member of the European Parliament, Anja Hazekamp, has also put written questions to the European Commission, which is negotiating on behalf of the EU with Japan on a free trade agreement.

Last Saturday was a special day for us. Philip Wollen gave a lecture in the Lower House for our members. It was a great honour to receive him. Philip Wollen is a former vice president of the Citibank. After he left there, he started to fully focus on the protection of animals. He initiated several projects to help animals in distress. Last year we granted him a Party for the Animals Award for all his fantastic work for animals. Below is a small photo report:

Last week it was sustainable Tuesday. Many initiatives were presented in the Lower House for a more sustainable world. One of the great initiatives came from the Technical University in Delft. You can have your petrol car “converted” into an electric one by students from the TU Delft 🙂 Brilliant!
