Worldlog Settimana 20 – 2013

La settimana scorsa ho già raccontato un po sul fantastico ed accogliente benvenuto che abbiamo avuto ad Istanbul dal partito turco Hayvan Partisi. Uno dei giornali più importanti in Turchia, la Hurriyet, ha scritto abbondantemente sulla nostra visita questa settimana ed anche la Zaman Daily ha fatto un report esteso. E’ stata una missione con successo, non vedo l’ora della conferenza internazionale che organizziamo il 2 e 3 giugno all’Haya per i partiti per gli animali di altri paesi.

Il weekend scorso e anche la settimana che viene avrà luogo l’asta delle zone naturali che la Gestione Forestale, l’organizzazione che gestisce la natura nei Paesi Bassi, deve vendere. Il motivo è che il governo ha dichiarato un risparmio di 100 milioni di euro per il periodo di questo governo. Come ho già detto la settimana scorsa, abbiamo cominciato un’iniziativa di “crowdfunding”; vogliamo comperare la natura per prevenire che la natura verrà gestita da persone sbagliate.

E’ triste vedere nella natura un cartello con scritto “vendesi”. Il governo non sembra rendersi conto che la natura vale molto di più che il valore della terra! La settimana che viene, sentirete come sarà finita l’asta!

Ho identificato 15 scienziati che sono disponibili di condividere le loro opinioni sul futuro nero della crescita economica illimitata e gli ho chiesto di identificare delle alternative.

Ciò ha portato ad un libro fantastico, che da prospettiva su un futuro economico diverso. Le prime reazioni al libro di gente che l’ha letto prima della pubblicazione sono meravigliose! Alcune reazioni:

Last week I talked about the wonderful, heart-warming reception we had in Istanbul from our sister party Hayvan Partisi. Last week, one of Turkey’s biggest newspapers the Hurriyet dedicated quite a few column inches to our visit and the Zaman Daily also wrote a long story. Mission accomplished! I am really looking forward to the international conference we are organising in The Hague on 2 and 3 June for sister parties in other countries.

The National Forest Service’s nature reserve auctions took place last week and will be held again next week. The National Forest Service is an organisation that manages nature in the Netherlands and they have to sell the reserves off because the government has cut its budget by 100 million Euros for this government’s term of office. As I told you last week, we have started a crowd funding campaign so we can buy these nature reserves to prevent nature from falling into the wrong hands.

It’s sad to see nature with a ‘for sale’ sign on it. The government doesn’t seem to realise that nature has a lot greater value than simply what the ground is worth! I’ll fill you in next week on how the auction went!

I’m preparing to present my book MÉÉR (MORE) on 27 May in the Upper House’s historical meeting room.
