Il Partito per gli Animali ha fatto un appello nel Parlamento europeo a Mark Rutte per fermare la sofferenza di milioni di animali in Europa. I Paesi Bassi detengono attualmente la presidenza dell’Unione europea. L’ eurodeputato Anja Hazekamp vuole che i Paesi Bassi realizzano la promessa che il benessere degli animali è una priorità per la presidenza olandese. Il partito per gli animali è stato l’unico partito nel dibattito con il primo ministro Rutte ad avere chiesto attenzione per le condizioni per gli animali.
“Non sarebbe bello se l’olandese assicurasse che i cani randagi rumeni non sarebbero più perseguitati e uccisi brutalmente? Ci sarà posto fine alla castrazione dei maiali? Lei vuole ridurre drasticamente il lungo trasporto di animali vivi in Europa, e anche oltre? Per ottenere ciò serve il sostegno di molti olandesi, molti europei e il Parlamento europeo“, ha detto Hazekamp nel dibattito con Rutte.
Il Partito per gli Animali durante il dibattito ha espresso delle critiche riguardante la vaghezza dei piani olandesi per la presidenza e la mancanza di visione per i prossimi sei mesi.

The Party for the Animals has called on Prime Minister Rutte in the European Parliament to stop the suffering of millions of animals in Europe. The Netherlands is currently President of the European Union. MEP Anja Hazekamp wants the Netherlands to fulfil its promise that animal welfare is a first priority for the Dutch presidency. The Party for the Animals was the only party asking for attention for the fate of animals.
“Would it not be wonderful if the Netherlands managed to put a stop to the brutal slaughter of Rumanian stray dogs? Or would be able to ban the unsedated castration of piglets? Or shorten the endless transports of live animals through Europe or even far beyond? You are supported in this by many Dutch citizens, by many European citizens, and by the European Parliament,” Hazekamp said during the debate with Rutte.
The Party for the Animals also criticised the vagueness of the Dutch plans for its presidency and the lack of vision for the next six months.
