Worldlog Semana 23 – 2011
Esta semana tuve una extraordinaria entrevista con Roos't Hart de nueve años sobre el maltrato de los animales. Dentro de dos semanas tiene una presentación en el colegio y esta entrevista fue para prepararla. ¡Muy lindo que la compasión por los animales comience a tan teprana edad!.
Esta semana es la juramentación de la Primera Cámara y sí, nuevamente tenemos el primer Senador por los derechos de los animales del mundo. Para su juramentación yo le ofrecí a nuestro Senador Niko Koffeman un buquet de verduras, una felicitación para él y una ayuda para los agricultores que aún sobreviven la crisis alimenticia por la bacteria EHEC. Es semana hubo un debate plenario sobre la bacteria EHEC. Se consiguió que el Gabinete haga una investigación sobre la posible relación entre las instalaciones de abonos y la bacteria EHEC y el demasiado uso de antibióticos en industria ganadera. Cada vez hay más personas y animales que son víctimas de escándalos alimenticios y crisis por enfermedades de animales.
Nuestro partido hermano PAN ha logrado en las elecciones nacionales 1,04 por ciento, en Madeira 1,7 por ciento. ¡Buen comienzo!. Le ayudaremos a crecer de manera que no sólo en Holanda, sino tambien en Portugal el bienestar de los animales tenga un lugar prominente en en la formación de decisiones políticas.
Afortunadamente los perros perros callejeros en Rumania no se sacrificarán en forma masiva. Bajo gran presión internacional el gobierno rumano decidió borrar el cambio de ley con el cual sería posible matar tres millones de perros callejeros. También el Partido para los Animales presionó al gobierno holandés para que actuara contra el cambio de la ley rumana, lo que conduciría a la matanza espantosa de perros callejeros. Ahora, de acuerdo con organizaciones protectoras de animales el gobierno rumano comenzará con programas de esterilización y asilo.
También imágenes hermosas y algunas muy fuertes de la erupción del volcán en Chilei.
Y por último buenas noticias desde Australia. Este pais detiene temporalmente la exportación de ganado vivo hacia Indonesia. Esto con motivo de la imágenes espantosas de los mataderos en Indonesia, de lo cual ya me referí la semana pasada.
Deberán castigar fuertemente los abusos en Indonesia.

This week I had a very special interview with nine-year old Roos 't Hart about animal abuse. She has a speaking engagement in two weeks and this conversation helped her prepare. How wonderful to see that compassion for animals can start so young!
The new Upper House was sworn in this week and we're represented there again with the world's first animal rights senator. I presented our senator Niko Koffeman with a bouquet of vegetables at his swearing in: it was to congratulate him and to hearten Dutch vegetable growers facing the continuing food crisis, thanks to the EHEC bacteria. This week saw a plenary debate on this EHEC bacteria. We managed to get the cabinet to investigate the possible relationship between manure fermentation facilities and the EHEC bacteria as well as the excessive use of antibiotics in the cattle farming industry. Increasing numbers of people and animals are falling victim to food scandals and animal disease crises.
Our sister party, PAN, achieved 1.04% of the vote in the Portuguese national elections, even running to 1.7% in Madeira. What a great start! We are going to help them grow so that animal welfare is given a prominent place in political decision-making not only in the Netherlands, but in Portugal too.
Happily, the stray dogs in Romania will not be culled en masse. Thanks to huge international pressure, the Romanian government decided to cancel the law amendment which would make it possible to kill three million stray dogs. The Party for the Animals also pushed the Dutch government to take action against this Romanian law, that would lead to stray dogs being killed in a grisly manner. The Romanian government will now consult with animal protection organisations and set up sterilisation and capture programmes.
And now some gorgeous, sometimes intense images of the volcanic outburst in Chile.
And finally, some fantastic news from Australia. They are temporarily halting live cattle exports to Indonesia. This is as a result of the gruesome images from slaughterhouses in Indonesia that I talked about last week.
The abuse in Indonesia needs to be tackled hard.
