Em primeiro lugar os melhores desejos para o novo ano a todos! Também em 2015, reafirmamos nosso compromisso de um mundo melhor para as pessoas, animais, natureza e meio ambiente.

Infelizmente, começou em 2015 com um evento que chocou o mundo. Doze pessoas foram mortas em um ataque contra o escritório do CharlieHebdo semanário satírico. Este tipo de terrorismo é assustador, e nós vamos ter que superar o terrorismo e medo. Milhares de pessoas, incluindo os Países Baixos, foram às ruas para expressar sua simpatia e solidariedade. CharlieHebdo também faz charges sobre os direitos dos animais. Peta selecionou os dez melhores.

O novo ano foi acompanhado pelo incômodo um monte de barulho e fogos de artifício. Este ano na Holanda foi restrito o horário de soltar os fogos, mas continuamos a defender o fim das fogos de artifício de consumo. A maioria da população holandesa concorda conosco que deve haver um fim para fogos de artifício particulares, mas até agora as propostas que discutimos foram rejeitadas pelo parlamento.

Eu olho para trás e vejo um movimentado bem-sucedido de 2014. As eleições municipais de março levaram a uma duplicação de nosso número de assentos do conselho. Temos agora um assento em cada um dos 12 municípios. Pouco depois ganhamos mais que 4% dos votos nas eleições europeias. Anja Hazekamp luta agora como parte da coalizão Esquerda Nórdica Verde no Parlamento Europeu para os interesses do nosso planeta.

No parlamento também tivemos muitos sucessos. Alcançamos grande sucesso na luta contra a mortalidade das abelhas, a poluição natural e riscos à saúde pelo uso de agrotóxicos. Há finalmente um fim no corte da cauda dos porcos, vacas cativas não podem mais receber choques elétricos e galinhas, patos e outras aves não deve ser enforcados vivos na linha de abate. Uma moção minha colocou um fim à auto-controle sobre os movimentos dos animais e um sistema de GPS é obrigatório em caminhões de transporte de gado. A Holanda está comprometida com uma proibição na Europa de lã de angorá e um empate mais duro contra caça e abate à baleia e golfinho.

No final de dezembro, um juiz na Argentina achou que orangotango Sandra é uma pessoa não-humana e “direitos pessoais” devem ser dados. Isso significa que ela não pode mais permanecer no zoológico porque iria fazê-la deprimida. Depois de 20 anos no zoológico Sandra vai se deslocar para um abrigo por causa de sua capacidade cognitiva e emocional complexa.

No início de um novo ano faz parte boas resoluções, e eu também tenho. O início deste ano vai se concentrar na expansão da nossa representação no placa de água provincial e as eleições da Camara. Também reafirmamos nosso compromisso em 2015 para um mundo sustentável e acabar com a pecuária industrial!

First of all, my best wishes for the New Year! Also in 2015, we will reaffirm our commitment to a better world for people, animals, nature and the environment.

Unfortunately, 2015 started with an event that shocked the whole world. Twelve people were killed in an attack on the office of the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo. This kind of terrorism is frightening, we will have to overcome terrorism and fear. Thousands of people, including in the Netherlands, took to the streets to express their sympathy and solidarity. Charlie Hebdo also makes cartoons about animal rights. Peta selected the ten best.

The New Year was again accompanied by a lot of banging and fireworks nuisance. This year, the time in which it is permitted to set off fireworks was restricted in the Netherlands, but we continue to advocate for an end to consumer fireworks. A majority of the Dutch population agrees with us that private fireworks should end, but so far our motions to this effect have been rejected by Parliament.

I look back on an eventful and successful 2014. The municipal elections in March led to a doubling of our number of council seats. We now have a seat in 12 municipalities. Shortly after, we gained more than 4% of votes in the European elections. As part of the Nordic Green Left-coalition, Anja Hazekamp is now fighting for the interests of our planet in the European Parliament.

In the Dutch Lower House, we also achieved many successes. We achieved great successes in the fight against bee mortality, nature pollution, and health risks due to the use of pesticides. There will finally come an and to docking of pigs’ tails, and administering electric shocks to tethered cows or hanging chickens, ducks and other birds alive on the slaughter line are prohibited. A motion of mine has put an end to the self-control on animal transports and a GPS system will be mandatory in cattle trucks. At the end of December, a judge in Argentina decided that orangutan Sandra is a non-human person and must be given ‘person rights’. This means she can no longer stay in the zoo, because it would make her depressed. Good resolutions are made at the start of a new year, and that is what I did. The beginning of this year will focus on expanding our representation in the provincial elections, water board elections and Upper House elections. We will also reaffirm our commitment in 2015 for a sustainable world and an end to factory farming!
