Worldlog Settimana 27 – 2008

Sono stata molto impegnata in questa settimana che precede la pausa estiva.

Le Organizzazioni professionali olandesi dei settori del bestiame, della carne e delle uova (Productschappen voor vee vlees en eieren, PVE), organizzano il loro barbecue annuale di promozione della bioindustria proprio sotto le finestre delle quattro stanze occupate dal gruppo parlamentare del Partito per gli Animali.

Il Partito per gli Animali ha chiesto al presidium della Camera dei deputati di badare che l’affitto degli edifici e dei terreni della Camera dei deputati, per fini di promozione commerciale destinata ai parlamentari e ai dirigenti, si faccia con più cura.
Con giusto titolo è vietato manifestare nell’edificio della Camera dei deputati, e anche nel caso di questa festa di promozione commerciale della bioindustria tale politica dovrebbe applicarsi rigorosamente. Se la PVE vuole organizzare una degustazione, lo può fare su terreno pubblico, per esempio nella piazza davanti all’edificio della Camera dei deputati, dove si è organizzato anche il barbecue vegetariano, ma non in un complesso di edifici che dovrebbe essere neutro.

I nostri collaboratori parlamentari hanno reagito all’azione promozionale, attaccando sulle finestre dei poster col testo “rest in pieces”.

Ora che il governo dichiara che la carne è la parte più inquinante della nostra alimentazione, e che siamo in mezzo a una crisi alimentare, è sconveniente aprire il cortile dell’edificio della Camera dei deputati ad un settore che guadagna soldi causando problemi sociali. Sarebbe tanto sconveniente quanto organizzare un motocross sul terreno della Camera dei deputati, per concludere l’anno parlamentare.

Been very busy since this was the last week before summer recess.

The Product Boards for Livestock, Meat and Eggs (PVE) are holding their annual bio-industry promotional barbecue at the closing of the parliamentary year precisely under the windows of the four rooms of the Party for the Animals.

The Party for the Animals has asked the presidium of the House of Representatives to practice more care when hiring out House of Representative buildings and their grounds for commercial promotions aimed at members of parliament and government officials.

It is a fair policy that demonstrating is not allowed inside the House of Representatives building. This should also be the case for this commercial bio-industry promotional party. If the PVE wants to organise a food tasting, they may do that on public property such as the square in front of the House of Representatives building where the vegetarian barbecue is held, but not in a building complex that should remain free of values.

Our party staff responded to PVE’s bio-industry promo action by hanging posters in the windows that read: rest in pieces.

Now that the government has indicated that meat is the most polluting of all the foods we eat, and in a time of food crisis, it’s not appropriate that the inside patio of the House of Representatives should be made available to a sector which earns its money by creating these societal problems. It would be just as inappropriate to have a motor-cross race on the House grounds for the closing of the parliamentary year.
