Worldlog Settimana 25 – 2009

Ancora nessuna chiarezza riguardante l’assegnazione del 26° seggio europeo per i Paesi Bassi. Sembrerebbe che avremmo questa chiarezza neanche prima dell’autunno, perché gli irlandesi organizzeranno un nuovo referendum sul Trattato di Lisbona e la ratificazione non è previsto prima della fine di quest’anno. Noi continuiamo ad impegnarci per portarci a casa questo seggio che dal punto di visto democratico (intesa come rappresentanza proporzionale) ci spetta. Vi terrò informati appena ci saranno delle novità.

Questa settimana ancora alcuni suggerimenti su come puoi fondare un proprio partito per gli animali. Come prima cosa è di fondamentale importanza che entri in contatto con altri simpatizzanti. Ho già scritto in precedenza come attraverso cene dei gruppi vegetariani e con la proiezione del film Meat the Truth puoi interessare persone per il messaggio della rappresentanza politico degli interessi degli animali.

Un messaggio che specialmente in Sud – Europa sta guadagnando forza con la fondazione del Partito degli Animali portoghese, ma anche il Partito degli Animali spagnolo si sta sviluppando bene. Quest’ultima settimana il film Meat the Truth (Incontro la Verità della Carne) è stato proiettato a Madrid e la Televisione Pubblica Spagnola ne ha fatto notizia molto approfonditamente. Anche in Islanda si sta lavorando alla proiezione del film e si sta studiando le possibilità di fondare un partito per gli animali.

Quando disponi di pochi mezzi ma vuoi comunque entrate in contatto con altri simpatizzanti, i social networki ti offrono una grande opportunità. Se apri un account con Twitter, del Partito degli Animali, nella tua propria lingua, dove attraversi degli link tieni informato le persone delle ultime notizie riguardante gli animali, potrai svilupparti, entro pochissimo tempo, ad essere un punto di raccolta di notizie sul benessere animale ed il diritti degli animali. Cosi puoi entrare in contatto con tantissimi protettori degli animali nel tuo paese, o area linguistica.

Lo stesse vale anche per gli account del Partito per gli Animali sugli siti dei social network nella tua lingua come hyves, facebook, myspace, linkedIn en orkut.

Potrà aiutarti molto di condividere i tuoi piani ed ideali con altri ed allo stesso momento trasmettere il messaggio di una società più vegetale e perciò più rispettoso degli animali.

La scorsa settimana Paul Mc Cartney e Yoko Ono hanno fatto un appello per l’istituzione di un giorno della settimana senza carne (Lunedì senza Carne) ed io ho accolto questo appello negli Paesi Bassi chiedendo tutti ristoratori di seguire questo buon esempio.

Il 70% degli restauranti in olanda è comunque chiuso di lunedì, cosi sono già senza carne quel giorno;-)

Ho visto un filmato carino su YouTube “sorry earth” che vorrei condividere con te.
Anche YouTube è un mezzo per rendere le persone consapevole di tutto quel che vien fatto agli animali.

Visto che devi non solo manifestare latenti sensazioni di disaccordo, ma che devi anche offrire un’alternativa d’azione, può essere di grande aiuto se vedi di creare qualcosa nella tua propria area linguistica, come per esempio un sito di petizione, in modo tale che le persone con un semplice clic del mouse possono fare qualcosa per il miglioramento del destino degli animali.

Internet è ( come la tua forchetta) un potente arma nella realizzazione di un mondo migliore per gli animali. E la cosa bella è che tu puoi cominciare oggi, utilizzando questo mezzo, per portare il Partito per gli Animali nella tua area linguistica ad un successo.

There is still no news about who is to be awarded the Netherland’s 26th seat in the European parliament. It looks as though we will have to wait until after the autumn because the Irish will be organising a new referendum on the Treaty of Lisbon and we don’t expect ratification before the end of the year. We will keep working all out on securing that seat which from a democratic perspective (in terms of proportional representation) is rightfully ours.

A few more tips this week on setting up your own Party for the Animals.
First of all, it is essential that you hook up with like-minded people. I mentioned previously how you can use vegetarian dinner evenings and screenings of Meat the Truth to get people into the idea of political advocacy for animals.

The message in the film is gaining impetus in southern Europe, especially with the establishment of a Portuguese Party for the Animals and the continuing success of its Spanish sister party. Last week, the film Meat the Truth was shown in Madrid and Spanish national TV covered the story in detail. Moves are also underway in Iceland to get the film screened there and to possibly set up an Icelandic Party for the Animals.

Social networking sites are a great, easy and inexpensive way of coming into contact with like-minded people. A Party for the Animals Twitteraccount in your own language that lets you keep people abreast of the latest animal rights news via links can very soon develop into a kind of ‘news depository’ for items on animal wellbeing and animal rights. This way you will meet many fellow animal rights advocates in your country or language area.

The same is true for Animal accounts on social networking sites in your language, such as hyves, facebook, myspace, linkedIn and orkut.

It can be very useful to share your ideals and plans with others while at the same time advocating a more vegetarian – and hence animal-friendly – lifestyle.

Last week Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono called for the introduction of one meat-free day per week (Meat Free Monday) and here in the Netherlands I have called on restaurant owners to follow their lead, offering them a free copy of Meat the Truth (www.meatthetrut.nl).

As 70% of all restaurants in the Netherlands are closed on Mondays anyway, most of them are already meat free on that day 😉

I happened to see a cool film on YouTube ‘Sorry Earth’ that I would like to share with you. YouTube is a great medium for getting people aware of how animals are being treated.

And as your goal is not only to rouse latent but strong feelings of unease in people, but also to offer them concrete tools, a good idea is to check whether you can set up something in your language area like a petition site that allows people to do something to improve the lot of animals with just a click of a mouse.

The Internet is (just like your fork) a powerful weapon in the fight to create a better world for animals. And the great thing about it is that you can start using this medium today to achieve success for the Party for the Animals in your own language area.
