Marianne Thieme condivide a Stoccolma il segreto del successo internazionale del Partito per gli Animali
On 14 April, Marianne Thieme, founder of the Dutch Party for the Animals, gave a lecture in the Playhouse Teater in Stockholm on the party’s successful role as an advocate for animal rights, nature and environment. The party currently has 5 seats in the national parliament and enjoyed a dramatic growth in last March’s municipal elections. Worldwide, eighteen sister parties of the Party for the Animals are currently active. The lecture was organised in cooperation with Swedish sister party Djurens parti.
Party leader Thieme talked about her party’s role in encouraging the debate on animal rights in the Netherlands as well as abroad. She also discussed the importance of influencing political decision-making as a necessary tool to improve the position of animals, nature and the environment.
In September, parliamentary and municipal elections will be held in Sweden. With her lecture, Thieme hoped to inspire the Swedes to think about the necessity of a new kind of politics. A politics in which the focus is no longer on the interests of man, but on those of the planet and all its inhabitants.
Someone who also stood up for animals, was world-famous Swedish author Astrid Lingren. She was known for passionately protecting the weak from the strong, for example by opposing the fast-growing livestock industry and fighting for a respectful treatment of animals. In Thieme’s opinion, Sweden can use Lindgren as an example to make an important step towards a society that no longer puts short-term economic interests first, but that is guided by compassion and sustainability.
In September, Swedish sister party Djurens parti will take part in the national and municipal elections. Marianne Thieme: “Problems concerning the way we treat animals are not confined to national borders. In order to bring about positive change for animals, it is important that we work together across borders with animal rights campaigners from all over the world.”
International movement
The establishment of the Party for the Animals has led to a growing global movement committed to the cross-border interests of animals, nature and the environment in politics. There are now 19 like-minded political parties and this number continues to grow.
Marianne Thieme, la fondatrice del Partito per gli Animali olandese, ha tenuto una conferenza il 14 aprile al Playhouse Teater a Stoccolma sul fruttuoso ruolo trainante del partito nel campo dei diritti degli animali, la natura e l’ambiente. Attualmente il partito ha cinque seggi nel parlamento nazionale e ha ottenuto una spettacolare vittoria nelle elezioni amministrative di marzo. Inoltre ci sono 18 partiti fratello attivi a livello mondiale. La conferenza è stata organizzata in collaborazione con il nostro partito fratello Svedese, Djurens Parti.
La capogruppo Thieme parlava del ruolo trainante del partito olandese nel dibattito sui diritti degli animali, nei Paesi Bassi cosi come all’estero. Inoltre ha spiegato perché influenzare il processo decisionale politico è cosi importante come strumento necessario per migliorare la posizione degli animali, della natura e dell’ambiente.
A settembre ci sono elezioni in Svezia, sia per il parlamento sia per i consigli comunali. Con la sua conferenza, Thieme spera di convincere gli svedesi a pensare alla necessità di un nuovo tipo di politica. Una politica che non si concentra più sugli interessi dell’uomo, ma su quello del pianeta e di tutti i suoi abitanti.
Anche la scrittrice svedese di fama mondiale Astrid Lindgren si è schierata regolarmente dalla parte degli animali. Era conosciuta per la sua spinta a proteggere i più deboli contro i più forti. Ad esempio, si è opposta alla rapida crescita del settore zootecnico e ha combattuto per un trattamento rispettoso degli animali. Secondo Thieme, con la Lindgren, la Svezia può compiere un passo importante verso una società che non mette più in primo piano gli interessi economici a breve termine, ma è guidata dalla compassione e dalla sostenibilità.
A settembre il partito fratello Svedese Djurens parti parteciperà alle elezioni nazionali e comunali. Marianne Thieme: “Problemi con il modo in cui trattiamo gli animali sono transfrontalieri. Per realizzare un cambiamento positivo per gli animali, è importante lavorare insieme oltre i confini con protettori degli animali in tutto il mondo.”
Movimento Internazionale
Dalla fondazione del Partito per gli Animali nei Paesi Bassi si è sviluppato un movimento globale in crescita che si impegna nella politica a favore degli interessi transfrontalieri degli animali, della natura e dell’ambiente. Nel frattempo ci sono 19 partiti politici con idee simili in tutto il mondo e questo numero continua a crescere.
