El Staatsbosbeheer nos favoreció con los casi 100.000 m2 de naturaleza por la que somos los que más ofrecimos. ¡Somos el primer partido de la historia que ha comprado un trozo de holanda para proteger a la naturaleza contra la fallida previsión del gobierno!. má sobre esta acción puedes leer en mi anterior Worldlogs.

El Sábado pasado tuvieron lugrar protestas en todo el mundo sobre la March Against Monsanto. También en Holanda fueron muy concurridas las manifestaciones en, entre otras, Amsterdam y Wageningen. Asistieron muchos de nuestros miembros. Monsanto es un monopolio en el sector de semillas y y sistemas manipuladas genéticamente. ¡Nosotros nos resistimos desde hace años contra empresas como Monsanto y apoyamos conrdialmente esta March Against Monsanto!.

Manipulación genética de plantas y semillas forma una drástica ruptura con la forma normal con que los organismos se reproducen . No sólo molesta la integridad de las plantas, es tambié un gran riesgo potencial para su existencia y para el sistema-eco. Las plantas manipuladas genéticamente pueden impedir el crecimiento de sus congéneres y desiquilibrar el sistema-eco. Además estas plantas utilizan gran cantidad de venenos agrícolas y contribuyen a la desaparición de bosques. También se deduce que las multinacionales (como Monsanto) que ponen en el mercado plantas genéticamente manipuladas, abusan de su poder en perjuicio de los campesinos.

¡Deseamos, basándonos en el principio de prevención, que se ponga un fin al permiso para manipular genéticamente las plantas para cosechar e importar en Europa, y deseamos evitar que esto suceda en Holanda!.

La semana pasada hice preguntas a la Cámara sobre un nuevo programa de televisión donde se ven culebras que son arrojadas en un tiesto con agua casi congelada. Es visible que las culebras sufre de mucho stress. Es preocupante que la gente opte por barbaries, sólo para aumentar las cifras televisivas. Los animales deben ser tratados como seres vivos con conciencia y sentimientos y deben ser respetados y tratados cuidadosamente. ¡Afortunadamente la Autoridad Holandesa de Alimentos y Mercancías (NVWA) ya ha comenzado y investigación penal sobre el maltrato de animales en el programa televisivo!.

La semana pasada apareció un informe de una oficina de investigación en Holanda des que se deduce que en la ganadería intensiva se abusa en forma masiva de las leyes para el bienestar de los animales. Además el informe pone dolorosamente en claro que la industria-bio en nuestro pais forma una gran amenza para la naturaleza y la bio-diversidad. La industria-bio no es durable, y nunca lo será. Las pocas normas que debe seguir este sector son masalmente irrespetadas. Junto a la débil naturaleza, simplemente no hay espacio para mantener millones de animales. La cantidad de animales debería reducirse a menos de la mitad, y la vigilancia por la indutria-bio debería caer inmediatamente en manos del Gobierno.

Especialmente no son respetadas las pocas reglas que existen en nuestro pais para el bienestar de los pollos-plof. Más de la mitad de los que tienen pollos-plof transigen sistemáticamente con las reglas. Tambié transigen masivamente en los establos de cerdos y terneros. ¡El secretario de estado de agricultura, Dijksma, debe actuar ahora!.

The National Forest Service awarded us almost 100,000 m2 of natural reserve as we came together to be the highest bidder. We are the first party in history to have bought a piece of the Netherlands to protect it against failing government policy! Read more about this act in my previous Worldlogs.

Last Saturday the whole world held protests under the name ‘March Against Monsanto’. The Netherlands also held popular protests in such places as Amsterdam and Wageningen. Many of our members were there. Monsanto monopolises the field of genetically manipulated seeds and pesticides. We have been fighting against businesses like Monsanto for years and so we supported the March Against Monsanto with everything we have!

Genetically manipulating plants and seeds is a dramatic break from the way organisms usually reproduce. It affects not only the plants’ integrity, it could also potentially endanger their continued existence and the ecosystem. Genetically manipulated plants can push out their natural counterparts and disrupt the ecosystem. Plus, growing genetically manipulated crops, coupled with using large amounts of agricultural poisons and artificial fertilisers, leads to mass deforestation. It also seems that multinationals like Monsanto that introduce these manipulated crops to the market are using their power to farmers’ expense.

We want to bring an end to growing genetically manipulated crops in Europe and to importing them into Europe, and we want to prevent the Netherlands from growing these crops!

Last week I asked more parliamentary questions about a new television programme in which snakes are thrown from a container with cold water. It is obvious that the snakes are under enormous stress. It is worrying to see people choose barbarism just to raise viewing figures. Animals must be treated with respect and care as they are living, sentient beings with feelings. Fortunately, the Dutch the Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) has meanwhile started a criminal investigation into animal cruelty on the show!

Last week saw a report by a Dutch research agency that says that intensive factory farming grossly infringes animal welfare laws. Furthermore, the report makes it painfully clear that the factory farming in this country endangers nature and biodiversity. The factory farming industry is not sustainable, and it can never be. The only rules with which this sector must comply are being ignored en masse. Nature is vulnerable so there is simply no room to keep millions of animals. The livestock herd needs to be shrunk by more than half, and the government must take control of monitoring the factory farming industry.

The very few rules that the Netherlands has surrounding the welfare of its 44,500,000 fattened chickens are also largely ignored. More than half of Dutch poultry holders consistently contravene the rules. But the worst of the infringements are found in pig and calf stalls. State Secretary of Agriculture Dijksma needs to take action now!
