Worldlog Semana 37 – 2015
En junio pasado, el corte de justicia ha dado la razón al grupo de acción Urgenda en el llamado ‘caso climático’. El juez dictaminó que el Estado holandés debe ciertamente hacer más para reducir el CO2. Obviamente es muy triste que hace falta demandar al estado porque no hace por sí mismo lo suficiente para proteger a los civiles de los efectos del cambio climático. Si estaba muy contenta que el juez dio la razón al grupo de acción Urgenda. Es que Holanda está corriendo muy atrás en términos de reducción de CO2. Aun hace falta un montón de mejora! Pero la historia se pone aún más triste … El estado ahora apelará al veredicto de este caso. Incomprensible, ya que es totalmente absurdo que el gobierno no está dispuesto a proteger mejor a sus propios ciudadanos y el medio ambiente. ¿Por qué no quieren asumir su responsabilidad como gobierno?
El Colegio de Derechos Humanos señaló la semana pasada señalo otra cosa notable en la política holandesa. Gracias a un nuevo proyecto de ley sobre los servicios de inteligencia y seguridad todos los holandeses pueden ser escuchados a escondidos por el gobierno. Incluso cuando uno no está sospechado de nada! El proyecto de ley no menciona nada por salvaguardar la privacidad. No hace falta pedir permiso a alguna instancia. La aprobación del Ministro del Interior es suficiente. En Suecia, Alemania y Bélgica, el gobierno al menos tiene que pedir el permiso de una autoridad independiente, como por ejemplo un juez antes de poder comenzar las escuchas. El Partido para los Animales considera importante garantizar la privacidad de los ciudadanos. Por esto me voy a oponer contra ese plan.
El jueves pasado las organizaciones de derechos de los animales y otros ciudadanos preocupados hicieron una protesta para lograr la cría de visones. La piel de visón es un producto de lujo muy cruel y también totalmente innecesario. Se prohibiría en unos anos la cría de visón por su piel en los Países Bajos. Los criadores de visiones no estuvieron de acuerdo con eso y han acudido a los tribunales. Ellos han ganado este caso. Afortunadamente Secretario de Estado Dijksma no acepto esto y apeló. El pasado jueves tuvo lugar esta demanda. Antes del inicio, varios activistas de derechos de los animales realizaron una manifestación pacífica frente al palacio de justicia. Mientras escribo este Worldlog la sentencia aún no era conocida o sea les debo los resultados.
MEGAzat, la manifestación contra los megos establos en los Países Bajos, fue un gran éxito. Muchos ciudadanos preocupados se reunieron en el Malieveld en La Haya para que el gobierno se diera cuenta que hay que poner un fin a la bio industria. Nuestra senadora Christine Teunissen dio un discurso. Hubo, por supuesto, muchos miembros del partido presentes en los animales! Haga clic aquí para un reportaje fotográfico.
Muchos ciudadanos se han dejado escuchar y esto me da mucho gusto para ver. No dejes que se te escapen tus ideales! Kortom, vele burgers hebben van zich laten horen. En dat vind ik mooi om te zien.

Last June, the court ruled in favour of the environmental group Urgenda in the so-called ‘Climate Case’. The court judged that the Dutch State should do more to reduce its CO2 emissions. It is of course sad that it was necessary to file a lawsuit against the State because it did not take sufficient action to protect its citizens against the effects of climate change. I was delighted that the court granted the claim of the environmental group Urgenda. After all, the Netherlands severely lags behind in reducing its CO2 emissions; much improvement is still needed! But the story becomes even sadder… The State will now appeal against the court’s decision. Unbelievable, it is completely absurd that the government is not willing to better protect its own citizens and the climate. Why would they, as the government, not take that responsibility?
The College of Human Rights last week pointed at something else particular in Dutch politics. Thanks to a new bill regarding intelligence and security services it will be possible for the government to wiretap all Dutch citizens. Even if they are not suspected of anything! For the bill does not contain anything on the safeguarding of privacy. Nor is there need to ask any authority for permission. The approval of the Minister of the Interior is enough. At least the governments in Sweden, Germany and Belgium first require the permission of an independent authority, for example of a court, before they can start wiretapping. The Party for the Animals believes that the safeguarding of citizens’ privacy is important. I will thus oppose to this plan.
On Thursday, animal rights groups and other concerned citizens demonstrated in favour of a mink farming ban. Mink fur is a very cruel and, moreover, superfluous luxury product. The farming of minks for fur production was supposed to be banned in a few years. Mink farmers did not agree and went to court. They won their case at the time. Fortunately, State Secretary Dijksma did not let it lie and she filed an appeal. This court case took place last Thursday. Before the start, several animal rights activists held a peaceful manifestation in front of the court building. The court decision was not yet known when I was writing this Worldlog, so this will be continued!
‘MEGA fed up’, the demonstration against mega stables was highly successful. Many concerned citizens gathered at the Malieveld in The Hague to let the government know that factory farming should stop. Our Member of the Upper House Christine Teunissen held a speech.
