Una primicia en Holanda! El viernes pasado abrí el primer lugar en Holanda donde se encuentran sólo productos vegetarianos y veganos en el menú! En el ‘Vegetarische Snackbar’ (lugar de snacks vegetarianos) se venden comidas, bocadillos y sándwiches y se complementan con bebidas biológicas frías y calientes. Además el propietario Jürgen Verwoerd quiere tener un lugar ‘fastfood’ lo más verde posible. Con la energía verde, el embalaje ecológico y productos ecológicos de limpieza.
El ‘Vegetarische Snackbar’ contribuye a un cambio hacia un alimento más justo. Gracias a este snackbar todas las personas pueden comer ‘un pan de carne’ sin poner una fuerte presión a los animales, las personas, la naturaleza y el medio ambiente. Estamos muy contentos con cada empresario que pone pasos importantes hacia una sociedad con menos uso de carne y más agradable para los animales.
Esta semana estuve en Paris para la presentación del libro Meat The Truth en Francés: La Verite sur la Viande. Fue un evento muy bonito y visitado por muchas personas
La semana pasada hicimos preguntas parlamentarias sobre las violaciones que se señalan en cuanto a la prohibición de cortar colas de los perros. En un programa en la televisión holandesa se dio a conocer que hay personas que cortan las orejas o las colas de sus perros, a pesar de estar prohibido. También resulto que en las demostraciones de perros se ven principalmente perros con colas u orejas cortados y que no existe ningún control.
Cortar orejas y colas de los perros está prohibido en los Países Bajos desde 2001. Sin embargo, parece que muchas personas siguen cortando a sus perros. Nos parece inaceptable que existe aún un comercio ilegal internacional en venta de perros que han sufrido cortes de esta manera.
Peter Singer nos ayuda a centrar la atención en el documental Haas en Maratón, una película sobre diez años de existencia del Partido para los Animales. Buenísimo! Este famoso australiano Peter Singer es profesor de bioética en la Universidad de Princeton, filósofo y uno de los fundadores del marco de evaluación ética de los derechos de los animales. Es para nosotros una gran fuente de inspiración!
La empresa Nikon – famosa por sus cameras – no solo vende cameras sino también armas. Firmen la petición http://www.viva.org.uk/huntingban/nikon/?Lead=FB020 de y envíen un correo a la empresa para que paren inmediatamente la venta de armas.

La UE se niega a prohibir los plaguicidas peligrosos para la lucha contra la mortalidad de abejas. Por lo tanto los Países Bajos tendrán que prohibir los tóxicos neonicotinoides y Fipronil! Queremos que se quiten del mercado tan pronto como sea posible porque los plaguicidas representan una seria amenaza para las abejas y otros insectos.

A first in the Netherlands! Last Friday, I opened the first snack bar in the Netherlands which has only vegetarian and vegan items on the menu. At the Vegetarian Snack Bar they serve meals, snacks and filled sandwiches, supplemented by organic hot and cold drinks. The owner Jürgen Verwoerd aims at running a fastfood restaurant that is as green as possible. With green power, environmental friendly packaging and ecological cleaning agents.
The Vegetarian Snack Bar helps in the shift towards an honest food supply. Thanks to this snack bar you can eat a ‘meatball sandwich’ without putting pressure on animals, people, nature or the environment. We are delighted with every entrepreneur who takes meaningful steps towards a vegetarian, and therefore, animal friendly society.
This week I was in Paris for the book presentation of the French language version of Meat the Truth: La Verite sur la Viande. It was a great event with many visitors!
Last week, we raised Parliamentary questions about the violation of the prohibition of docking and cropping, which is frequently seen. In a Dutch television programme it came to light that people still have their dogs’ ears and tail cropped and docked, despite the prohibition. Seemingly the dogs exhibited at shows are mostly cropped and docked and no inspections are carried out.
The cropping and docking of dogs is banned by law in the Netherlands since 2001. But apparently many dogs are still being cropped and docked. We think it is unacceptable that these dogs are still traded illegally on an international basis.
Peter Singer helps us to draw attention to our documentary the Hare in the Marathon, a film covering the 10th anniversary of the Party for the Animals. Excellent! The world-famous Australian Peter Singer is professor of Bioethics at Princeton University, philosopher and one of the founders of the ethical assessment of animal rights. He is a great source of inspiration to us!

The bees are now dependent on your help, and you depend on the help of the bees. Read this alarming article for more information. The European Union refuses to prohibit hazardous pesticides to prevent the death of bees. The Netherlands should therefore just prohibit the poisonous neonicotinoids and fipronil itself! We want these pesticides to be taken from the market as soon as possible because these agricultural pesticides seriously threaten the lives of bees and other insects.
