Il Partito per gli Animali vuole una fine ai bicchieri usa e getta

The number of used coffee cups at railway stations should be reduced. Last week, a majority of the Dutch Lower House supported a motion tabled by the Party for the Animals requesting the Dutch Cabinet to make ambitious commitments with major coffee chains to reduce the use of disposable cups.

Each year around 3 billion, difficult-to-recycle coffee cups are thrown away in the Netherlands alone. Worldwide, this number is around 500 billion. There are various experiments going on with the aim of stimulating reusable coffee cups, but none of these are very well-known among customers. For example, the Cabinet has joined forces with railway companies in the Netherlands to launch a trial that allows customers to bring their own coffee mugs and pay less for their coffee. This trial is part of the ‘GreenDeal’ aimed at a substantial reduction of waste at railway stations, a campaign launched on the initiative of the Party for the Animals in 2015.

Party for the Animals MP Frank Wassenberg: “Every day thousands of pounds of trash are produced at railway stations. That number has to be reduced and it is possible with simple changes in behaviour, such as bringing our own mugs. Let’s dispose of disposable cups!”

Thanks to the Party for the Animals’ motion which was adopted last week, the State Secretary for Infrastructure & Water Management will make ambitious commitments with railway companies and major coffee chains to further and faster reduce the number of used coffee cups.

Ci vuole una riduzione dei bicchierei di caffe’ utilizzati nelle stazioni. Una maggioranza della Camera olandese ha dato oggi il suo supporto per una mozione del Partito per gli Animali che chiede al governo di fare degli accordi ambiziosi con le grandi catene di caffe’ per ridurre l’utilizzo dei bicchieri usa e getta.

Nei Paesi Bassi vengono buttati via circa 3 miliardi di bicchieri di caffe’, che sono anche particolarmente difficili da riciclare. Nel mondo sono 500 miliardi all’anno. Oramai sono state avviate varie iniziative sperimentali per stimolare l’utilizzo di bicchieri di caffe’ riciclabili, ma ancora i clienti ne conoscono troppo poco l’esistenza. Ad esempio il governo ha iniziato una prova con le ferrovie, dove i clienti pagano meno per il cafe’ se portano il proprio bicchiere per il caffe’ con se. Questa prova fa parte del GreenDeal (Accordo Verde) che punta su un’importante riduzione del patume nelle stazioni delle ferrovie. Quest’iniziativa e’ stata avviata dal Partito per gli Animali nel 2015.

Il membro del Partito per gli Animali nella Camera Frank Wassenberg dice: “Ogni giorno vengono prodotti migliaie di chili di patume nelle stazioni. Deve diminuire e si puo’ fare tramite semplici cambiamenti del comportamento, come portare il proprio bicchiere. Bastano i bicchieri usa e getta!”

Grazie alla mozione del Partito per gli Animali che e’ stata accettata la settimana scorsa, il segretario dell’Infrastruttura e delle Acque fara’ degli accordi ambiziosi cone le aziende che gestiscono le ferrovie come anche con le aziende che vendono il caffe’, in modo da ridurre l’utilizzo dei bicchieri di caffe’ non riutilizzabili ulteriormente e piu’ velocemente.
