На прошлой неделе избиратели вновь отдали нам свои голоса, и теперь мы вместе с Естер Аувеханд займем места во Второй Палате на еще один срок. Мы очень гордимся этим достижением. Пришло время опять встать на защиту прав животных, природы и экологии. Между тем в Нидерландах идет формирование новой правящей коалиции. Похоже, что правый кабинет, состоящий из либеральной Народной Партии за Свободу и Демократию(НПСД), Партии Свободы Херта Вилдерса и Христианских Демократов, так и не будет сформирован, чему мы очень рады. В данный момент рассматриваются другие варианты. Партию для Животных больше устроила бы коалиция, в составе которой вошли бы НПСД, Партия Труда, Д66 и Левые Зеленые.

Хочу сказать спасибо за поздравления от наших соратников из других стран! Особое внимание хотелось бы уделить письму нашей португальской коллеги Partido Pelos Animais

Моя коллега Эстер Аувеханд была названа организацией Природных Заповедников самым зеленым политиков 2009-2010гг. Это звание она получила за свой энтузиазм и решительность, с которой она учавствует в дебатах, ее экспертное мнение сыграло не последнюю роль при рассмотрении ходатайств и принятии поправок к законопроектам, касающихся сохранения природных ресурсов.

И , не смотря на то, что мы были бы рады введению запрета на разведение норок уже в 2018 году, Партия для Животных встретила с удовлетворением решение Второй Палаты закрыть все фермы по разведению норок в 2024 году. Вторая Палата еще в прошлом году выразила свое согласие с планом дать владельцам норковых ферм время до 2018года свернуть свои предприятия. Первая Палата, однако, решила продлить этот срок и, с подачи Социалистической Партии и Партии Труда, выделенное владельцам время увеличили еще на 6 лет.

Ежегодно в Нидерландах умервщляются около пяти миллионов норок. Нидерланды после Дании и Китая занимают третье место в мире по производству норкового меха. Большая часть производимой в Нидерландах продукции предназначена на экспорт. К счастью, уже виден конец этому насилию над животными.

Last week Esther Ouwehand and I were sworn in for the second time as members of parliament. A special and wonderful occasion. Time to continue our work in parliament for animals, nature and the environment. Meanwhile coalition negotiations are underway in the Netherlands. Fortunately, it appears as though a right-wing cabinet with the libertarian VVD, the Geert Wilders’ Freedom Party and the CDA is dead in the water. Other options for coalitions are now being studied. The Party for the Animals would favour a coalition involving the VVD, the Labour Party, D66 and GroenLinks.

My colleague Esther Ouwehand has been proclaimed the greenest politician of the year 2009-2010 by Natuurmonumenten, a nature reserve organization. Esther was awarded the prize for her drive and determination when debating, her deep knowledge of her portfolio and the number of motions and amendments regarding nature preservation that she submitted and had accepted.

And, although we would rather have a ban on mink farming in 2018, the Party for the Animals is also happy about the decision in the Lower House to close all mink farms in 2024. Last year, the Lower House had already agreed to a plan to give mink farmers the time until 2018 to wind down their businesses. Unfortunately, the Upper House wanted mink farmers to be given a longer winding-down period, after which the instigators of the proposal, the Socialist Party and the Labour Party, extended the transition period by six years.

Each year nearly five million minks are gassed in the Netherlands. The Netherlands is the world’s third largest producer of mink fur, after Denmark and China. The majority of the mink fur produced in the Netherlands is intended for export. Fortunately, there is now hope that this needless animal suffering will be stopped.
