A une semaine avant les vacances d’été, nous avons été très occupés.
L’organisation faîtière pour le bétail, la viande et les oeufs (PVE) organise leur barbecue annuel de promotion de l’industrie de la viande à la fermeture de l’année parlementaire, exactement sous les fenêtres des quatre bureaux du Parti pour les Animaux.
Le Parti pour les Animaux a demandé au Présidium du Parlement de prêter plus attention concernant la location des bâtiments du Parlement et les terrains y appartenant quand il s’agît de buts commerciaux et promotionnels visant les membres du Parlement et du gouvernement.
C’est une politique justifiée qui interdit les manifestations dans le bâtiment du Parlement, et cette politique devrait aussi être respectée au pied de la lettre dans le cadre de ce festin promotionnel de l’industrie de la viande. Si la PVE veut organiser une dégustation, elle peut le faire sur un terrain public, comme sur la place devant le bâtiment du Parlement où a également été organisé le barbecue végétarien, mais pas dans un complexe de bâtiments qui devraient être neutres.
Nos collaborateurs du Parti ont réagi à cette action de promotion de l’industrie de la viande de la PVE en mettant des posters sur les fenêtres avec le texte « rest in pieces » (reposez en morceaux, jeu de mots pour « rest in peace », reposez en paix).
Maintenant que le gouvernement indique que la viande est l’élément la plus polluant de notre alimentation et dans ces temps de crise alimentaire, cela est mal placé d’ouvrir la cour intérieure du Parlement à un secteur qui gagne sa vie en causant ces problèmes de société. C’est aussi mal placé que d’organiser un MotoCross sur ce même terrain pour la fermeture de l’année parlementaire.

Been very busy since this was the last week before summer recess.
The Product Boards for Livestock, Meat and Eggs (PVE) are holding their annual bio-industry promotional barbecue at the closing of the parliamentary year precisely under the windows of the four rooms of the Party for the Animals.
The Party for the Animals has asked the presidium of the House of Representatives to practice more care when hiring out House of Representative buildings and their grounds for commercial promotions aimed at members of parliament and government officials.
It is a fair policy that demonstrating is not allowed inside the House of Representatives building. This should also be the case for this commercial bio-industry promotional party. If the PVE wants to organise a food tasting, they may do that on public property such as the square in front of the House of Representatives building where the vegetarian barbecue is held, but not in a building complex that should remain free of values.
Our party staff responded to PVE’s bio-industry promo action by hanging posters in the windows that read: rest in pieces.
Now that the government has indicated that meat is the most polluting of all the foods we eat, and in a time of food crisis, it’s not appropriate that the inside patio of the House of Representatives should be made available to a sector which earns its money by creating these societal problems. It would be just as inappropriate to have a motor-cross race on the House grounds for the closing of the parliamentary year.
