Worldlog Semana 11 – 2015

La semana pasada fui al Foro Parabere en Bilbao, España. El Foro Parabere es una conferencia independiente, sin fines de lucro donde se discuten los principales problemas de la alimentación. Hablé allí entre otras personas con Hilal Elver, relator de la ONU sobre los derechos a la alimentación. Enfatizo que no es necesario aumentar la producción de los alimentos, sino que los problemas se encuentran precisamente en el acceso a los alimentos, alimentación ganadera y biocombustibles. Fue una reunión muy interesante!

La semana pasada me informaron que con el Partido para los Animales estamos invitados por segunda vez para navegar en el desfile de barcos durante la Gay Pride (Marcha del Orgullo Gay) en Amsterdam el sábado, 1 de agosto. El desfile de barcos es una parte importante de la Gay Pride de Amsterdam donde varios grupos de barcos navegan en un desfile por los canales de Ámsterdam. Creo que es genial que nosotros como partido podemos propagar en el Gay Pride temas claves como la compasión y la libertad.

Nuestro partido quiere ”renovar” el Senado! Hemos establecido el concepto de candidatos para la elección del nuevo Senado. Actualmente contamos con un escaño en el Senado. En las encuestas parece que el Partido para los Animales tiene la posibilidad de ganar por lo menos dos o tres escaños. Se espera que podamos ser en muchos casos el voto decisivo en el Senado. Dependiendo de la nueva composición del Senado, voy a elaborar con el Parlamento una nueva propuesta para prohibir la masacre ritual sin aturdimiento.

Que se renueve el Senado. No pierdes tus ideales! Christine Teunissen esta numero 2 en la lista.

El NOS que se encarga del noticiero de la radio y televisión pública holandesa organizo en la radio el domingo 1 de marzo, un debate para los líderes de los partidos políticos. Solo fueron invitados los partidos más grandes. La razón era que la presencia de todos los partidos no beneficiaría a la claridad del debate. Pero esto no significa que la voz de los que hacen la diferencia no está siendo escuchada! Por esto hemos decidido comprar tiempo en la radio en torno a este debate. Deje dos mensajes de radio uno sobre la prohibición de masacre ritual aturdido y uno sobre la actitud servil de los presentes partidos socios de tolerancia.

Hasta un 72% de la población holandesa piensa que la caza como un pasatiempo debe ser prohibido. Sin embargo, los cazadores reciben la plena cooperación del gobierno para seguir disfrutando de su afición. En varias provincias de los Países Bajos los ciudadanos comenzaron una iniciativa especial contra la caza de pasatiempos, llamada “Alto a la caza hobby“. Me encanta que la gente dedicada han comenzado esta iniciativa y por lo tanto hemos decidido apoyar tales iniciativas comunitarias.

En esta película de animación se explica en seis minutos como nosotros estamos adictos al crecimiento económico y porque tal situación se ha vuelto insostenible.

Last week, I went to the Parabere Forum in Bilbao in Spain. Parabere Forum is an independent, non-profit conference where key food issues are discussed. Here I spoke with Hilal Elver among others, who is the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to food. She emphasised that there is no need to increase the production of food but that the problems are, in fact, associated with access to food, cattle feed and biofuels. It was a very interesting meeting!

Last week, I was told that we, with the Party for the Animals, have been selected for the second time to join in the boat parade during the Gay Pride in Amsterdam on Saturday the 1st of August. The boat parade is an integral part of the Amsterdam Gay Pride where all groups sail in a parade through the Amsterdam canals. I think it is great that we, as a party, are given the chance to propagate major themes like compassion and freedom during the Gay Pride.

Our Party wants to ”renovate” the Senate! We have determined the draft list of candidates for the elections for the new Senate. We currently hold one seat in the Senate. In the polls, the Party for the Animals seems to have a chance to win at least two or three seats. It is expected that in many cases we will have the casting vote in the Senate. Depending on the new composition of the Senate, I will together with the Lower House faction submit a new proposal to ban ritual slaughter without stunning.

Renovate the Senate. Hold on to your ideals. Christine Teunissen is 2nd on the list.

The NOS (Netherlands Broadcasting Corporation), which provides the news for the Dutch public service broadcasting system, organised a debate of leading Senate candidates on the radio on Sunday the 1st of March. Only the major public parties were invited to this debate. They believed that the debate would not be clear and understandable if all political parties participated but that meant that the voice of the trendsetters in the debate remained unheard. That is why we decided to buy radio airtime around this debate. I recorded two radio spots, one on the banning of ritual slaughter without stunning and the other one on the slavish approach of the current Parliamentary parties supporting the minority government.

No less than 72% of the Dutch populations believes that amateur hunting should be banned. Amateur hunters are given every support by the government to continue exercising their hobby. In several provinces in the Netherlands, citizens have started an initiative against amateur hunting, called “Ban amateur hunting”. I think it is great that committed people have initiated these initiatives and we have therefore decided to support them.
