El Partido por los Animales plantea preguntas sobre pesticidas utilizados en cereales de desayuno
Un estudio francés ha puesto de manifiesto que todos los mueslis producidos con métodos no ecológicos contienen altos niveles de pesticidas tóxicos. El Partido por los Animales considera inaceptable que los consumidores ingieran productos nocivos al optar por un desayuno supuestamente sano. Esther Ouwehand planteó preguntas parlamentarias al respecto a la ministra de Asuntos Económicos.
La organización francesa Générations Futures ha analizado veinte tipos de muesli para determinar si contienen pesticidas tóxicos. Los cinco tipos de muesli producidos de forma ecológica resultaron no contener ningún pesticida. En los mueslis producidos de forma no ecológica, por el contrario, se constató la presencia de 141 tipos distintos de pesticida con concentraciones hasta 300 veces superiores a los límites establecidos.
De 81 tipos de pesticida se sospecha, además, que podrían tener efectos nocivos para el funcionamiento normal de las hormonas. Cuatro de los tipos de muesli analizados en el estudio francés están a la venta también en los supermercados holandeses, por lo que los consumidores holandeses están expuestos a riesgos para la salud que no podemos aceptar.
El Partido por los Animales le ha pedido explicaciones a Van Dam, secretario de Estado de Economía. Nuestra parlamentaria Esther Ouwehand quiere que el gabinete analice todos los mueslis holandeses para determinar si contienen pesticidas. Esther Ouwehand: “El ciudadano cree estar consumiendo cereales sanos pero corre un gran riesgo de ingerir pesticidas tóxicos, que es la antítesis de lo sano. El gabinete debe tomar medidas al respecto”.
El Partido por los Animales lleva años abogando por la agricultura libre de pesticidas para proteger al hombre, los animales y la naturaleza. Esther Ouwehand quiere que Van Dam, secretario de Estado de Economía, explique las medidas que va a tomar para acabar cuanto antes con el uso de pesticidas.

French organisation Générations Futures has analysed twenty different kinds of cereal for the presence of agricultural toxins. The five that were organic were found to be free from any pesticides. However, the non-organic cereals contained traces of no less than 141 different agricultural toxins, some in concentrations exceeding the concentrations laid down in EU standards by a factor of 300.
Moreover, 81 types of pesticides found in the cereals are presumed to have endocrine disrupting properties. Of all cereal types that were examined in the French study, four are also available in Dutch supermarkets, thereby exposing Dutch consumers to unacceptable health risks.
The Party for the Animals has requested clarification from the Dutch State Secretary for Economic Affairs Van Dam. MP Esther Ouwehand wants the Dutch government to have all cereals in the Netherlands analysed for the presence of pesticides. Esther Ouwehand: “Citizens assume they are having a healthy breakfast by eating cereal, but actually run the considerable risk of ingesting agricultural toxins – very unhealthy indeed! The government must take measures against this.”
The Party for the Animals has been advocating toxin-free agriculture for years in order to protect people, animals and nature. Esther Ouwehand wants to know what measures State Secretary Van Dam will take to phase out the use of agricultural toxins as soon as possible.
