Reușită: 27.000 de spații naturale rămân protejate!

Marea Wadden, zona Veluwe și 27.000 alte spații naturale din Europa rămân protejate de către Directivele Europene Păsări și Habitate. Aceasta s-a confirmat de către Comisia Europeană.

Anul trecut, Bruxelles a demarat o anchetă publică pentru determinarea nevoii unei legislații europene cu privire la natură. Așteptarea principală a fost că firmele vor completa aceste chestionare pentru a solicita un nivel mai scăzut de protecție a naturii și mai multe posibilități de a se extinde. S-a luat astfel un prim pas către neutralizarea demersurilor europene de a proteja natura.

Însă Partidul pentru Animale împreună cu diferite organizații pentru natură au mobilizat mii de iubitori ai naturii să completeze chestionarul. Și cu succes: Bruxelles a concluzionat recent că legile europene pentru protejarea naturii sunt esențiale pentru a menține cele 27 de mii de spații naturale din Țările de Jos și din alte state membre UE. Astfel, cu ajutorul vostru, nu s-a cenzurat natura!

Europarlamentarul Anja Hazekamp este „ușurată” că Bruxelles realizează necesitatea legislației în vigoare cu privire la natură și că o păstrează. Totuși, ea consideră că este „greșit” că la nivel național și local se sacrifică prea des spații naturale protejate, astfel încât activitățile economice să poată înainta. „În Europa mai există doar patruzeci la sută din biodiversitatea inițială; În Țările de Jos acest nivel este de doar 15 procente. Degradarea naturii trebuie oprită și trebuie să facem tot posibilul pentru a proteja cât mai bine ceea ce a rămas din natura noastră”, spune Hazekamp.

The European Commission has confirmed that 27,000 natural sites in Europe, including The Wadden Sea and the Veluwe region in the Netherlands, will remain protected under the EU Birds and Habitats Directives.

Last year, a public survey was conducted in Brussels on the value of EU nature legislation. The expectation was that mostly companies would participate in the survey in order to advocate weaker nature conservation laws and more opportunities for expansion. A first step was taken towards the termination of European nature conservation.

However, the Party for the Animals together with several nature conservation organisations mobilized thousands of nature lovers, who all participated in the survey. It paid off: the EC has now concluded that directives for nature protection purposes are essential for the conservation of the 27,000 natural sites in the Netherlands and other EU countries. So no censorship on nature, thanks to you!

MEP Anja Hazekamp feels ‘relieved’ that the EC sees the value of the existing nature legislation, and that this legislation will be maintained. However, she thinks it is ‘outrageous’ that still so many nature reserves, at both national and local level, are sacrificed in the interest of economic activities. “In Europe, only 40 percent of the original biodiversity remains; in the Netherlands, it is only 15 percent. This degradation of nature must stop and we must do everything in our power to provide the best possible protection of what is left of nature and wildlife,” according to Hazekamp.
