Le 4 octobre les élections nationales ont eu lieu au Portugal. Et le Parti pour les Animaux portugais PAN a remporté un siège dans le parlement national! Bien 74.000 Portugais ont voté pour PAN. Ainsi André Silva a été élu député et PAN est le deuxième parti politique au monde qui prend primairement défense pour les animaux, la nature et l’environnement avec un représentant dans le parlement national. Par cette réussite on envoie un signal clair aux partis traditionnels : un changement est très nécessaire. Le résultat montre la croissance du mouvement mondial des gens qui ont besoin d’une politique qui ne met pas au premier plan les intérêts de l’homme à court terme, mais bien la planète et donc ainsi tous ses habitants.

Samedi le 10 octobre on a manifesté contre le traité de libre-échange transatlantique controversé PTCI dans plusieurs villes en Europe. A la manifestation à Amsterdam il y avait bien 7.000 gens, sous lesquels aussi beaucoup de membres du Parti pour les Animaux. C’était génial à voir que tant de membres du parti sont venus à la manifestation pour donner l’alarme contre PTCI. Ainsi nous avons porté un signal très clair !

Pendant la manifestation j’ai pu parler dans ma robe de manifestation contre PTCI. C’est la robe que j’ai portée pendant la rentrée parlementaire. J’ai appelé à un référendum concernant PTCI et AECG, un traité de libre-échange pareil entre l’UE et le Canada. PTCI et AECG menacent la démocratie et donnent le pouvoir aux sociétés multinationales et aux groupes de pression. Il ne devrait pas y avoir des traités de libre-échange et certainement pas sans conseiller d’abord le peuple par un référendum.

Bientôt la banque européenne de reconstruction et développement se réunira du financement d’une des plus grands élevages de poules au monde, Myronivsky Hliboproduct (MHP) en Ukraine avec 85 million d’euros. Les Pays-Bas sont également membre du conseil de la banque européenne. Ces dernières années cet élevage de poules a déjà eu un demi-milliard (!) d’euros en tout de soutien néerlandais et européen.
Notre ministre des Finances a fait savoir de ne pas voir d’inconvénient à investir 85 millions d’euros provenant des impôts européens dans cette étable énorme en Ukraine. Ça n’a pas de nom, vu le fait qu’en 2012 l’Assemblée nationale néerlandaise a donné son accord à notre motion de ne pas du tout financier les étables énormes à l’étranger. La semaine dernière nous avons déposé une nouvelle motion qui réclame que le gouvernement néerlandais ne donne pas son accord à ce financement. Cette motion a eu une large majorité parlementaire!

National parliamentary elections were held in Portugal on the 4th of October. And the Portuguese Party for the Animals won a seat in the national parliament! Over 74,000 Portuguese voted for PAN. As a result, André Silva was elected as a deputado. With this, PAN is the second political party worldwide which primarily stands for animals, nature and the environment and which has a political representative in the national parliament. This success has given a strong signal to traditional political parties: change is badly needed. The result illustrates the growth of a worldwide movement of people who want a political movement which does not focus on short-term human interest but on the planet and all its inhabitants instead.

On Saturday the 10th of October, demonstrations were held in various big cities in Europe against the controversial free trade deal TTIP. The manifestation in Amsterdam was attended by more than 7,000 people, including many members of the Party for the Animals. It was wonderful to see that so many party members went to the manifestation to sound the alarm against TTIP. We sent a clear signal by doing so!

I had the opportunity to speak at the manifestation in my protest dress against TTIP. It was the dress I wore on Budget Day. I called for a referendum on TTIP and CETA, a similar free trade deal between the EU and Canada. TTIP and CETA threaten our democracy and give the power to multinationals and lobbyists. These free trade deals should not go ahead and certainly not without consulting the population first through a referendum.

Soon a meeting will be held by the European bank for Reconstruction and Development on the financing of one of the largest chicken factories in the world, Myronivsky Hliboproduct (MHP) in the Ukraine with 85 million Euros. The Netherlands is a member of the Board of Governors of the European Bank. Dutch and European support to this chicken factory has already amounted to 500 million (!) Euros over the past years.

Our Minister of Finance has said that he does not object to spending 85 million Euros of European tax money on this mega-stable in the Ukraine. This is outrageous considering that the Lower House consented to our motion in 2012 to not finance any mega-stables abroad in any way. Last week, we tabled a new motion demanding that the Dutch government will not consent to this financing. The motion was passed with a majority.
